914World.com _ FS/WTB: 914 Parts _ WTB Stronger Motor Type IV or 6

Posted by: barada Oct 24 2009, 06:10 PM

Hello,

Testing the waters to see if anyone has a 150-180 hp engine they are wanting to sell. I like driving the 914 but I want some more power to satisfy my hour commute. Scared of the price tag on the super hopped up TYPE IV's but was hoping someone had a backup engine lying around.

replace the at with @ got a nasty virus from spam so I don't post it anymore.

Thanks
Phillip

I'd lower the boost on my V6 and sell it to you. =o) I'd even make a few adjustments to it so you could keep your rear trunk. That should be about 180hp.

I'm guessing you want to stay aircooled though. wink.gif

What sort of price range are you shopping for?

3-5k

in that range I'd get a raby kit or mcmark's 5k 120hp engine.

unless you want to do a subaru conversion, which I dunno if that can be done for 5k, either... I'm pretty sure you can't do a 6 conversion for that, either...

the older higher milage 3.0 sixes are 3-4000..180-200hp
while you might find a 3.2 for 5000 ...200+hp
mostly find them on pelicanparts.com

and plus conversion costs

But the simplicity of popping in a 2056 is awfully enticing

Thanks.
I have a 3.0 with 80K on it I can buy local for 3000. I have 2 911's with 3.0 so I am very familiar with that engine.I just don't have any of the conversion parts. I missed a 2056 a while back for 5k with a car attatched so I was hoping something like that would be available.

things you will need
engine mount- rich johnson
engine tin
clutch, pressure plate KEP
modified shift rod
oil tank 800-900 for stock
oil lines
oil cooler
thermostat
fuel pump
........
things to think of
up graded front brakes 911stuff
bigger wheels
re enforced ears
chassis re-enforcing
it might make sense to look in the classifieds for one already built
there is a very nice one with a 3.2 in it
i doubt you could build yours or it for the asking price
