914World.com _ FS/WTB: 914 Parts _ FS: 914-6 Engine

Posted by: RonnieJ Jan 19 2010, 11:50 AM

I have a friend who has an original 914-6 engine with tins and carbs for sale and thought I would put the info out. It would be nice to see this engine go back into a 914-6 where it belongs. He wants 3K for it and if you are intertested email me here on the 914 world site or email me at ronniejcarr@yahoo.com

I have the numbers for the engines. One engine has tins and carbs and the other does not have cooling shroud or carbs. The engine numbers are 6404766 and 6405232.

Slits, One engine does not have the carbs with it, why I don't know. If you want to talk to the owner let me know and I'll send it to you.

Thank you anyway ... mine has a 2.7L in it and I have a 3.0L on the shelf. 110 hp 2.0L are a bit anemic for my taste. I would hope someone on this board needs engines in the range that you have access to.

What sort of condition are they in? Recently running or cores or boxes of parts? I am just trying to get a feel for the value of these engines.

Not intending a total thread hijack, but mine is #6405632 and also will likely be for sale soon. Not stock (quasi 2.2S) and is in good running, freshly serviced condition, sitting here in a crate.

Edited the title to include "FS:" and moved to the classifieds.

You buy Wayne Dempsey's book ..."How to Rebuild and Modify Porsche 911 Engines". Each year has specifics on the Serial Number and Type. The number only tells you how it left the factory ... not what's been done to it in 40 years.
