914World.com _ FS/WTB: 914 Parts _ WTB, oil filter sandwich adapter (w/thermostat)

Posted by: brant Aug 3 2010, 01:27 PM

I'm looking for a used, but useable sandwhich adapter
I want to add a cooler to a beater
I'll just go under the rear trunk

also if anyone has an old set up (a cooler with fan),
lines, and parts that didn't have a motor die and deposit metal...
I'm interested in more than just the sandwich adapter if you have it.

please pm or email in case I don't see this thread.

thats a great price.
but it looks "thicker" than the other ones I've seen
I'd hate for the oil filter to be an extra inch or two lower. It seems the normal adapters cause the filter to be low enough already..

have you used this one?
how thick is it?

That adapter on Jegs is made by the company I work for. The adapter is 1-5/8 inches thick. If you want one I can sell you one for $20.

Bruce,
that is about the nices offer ever
I'll go measure how much extra height I can get away with
(the PO really lowered this car a ton)

do the ones you manufacture have a thermostat?

the new Mahle filters are shorter and that makes up for the adapter.

beware of used coolers, speically the plate type coolers, they can trap metal chunks from failing motors. only to come out later and wreck you motor. be sure the cooler you buy comes out of a good car for sure. also rinse it at least three times with paint thinner. if any signs of metal contaminations, toss it out.
it is very very hard to clean them effectivly (unless it is the tube type cooler which can be cleaned easy)

good luck on you search.

PS empi sells new coolers with or with out electric fans. I got a large 96 plate cooler with a 9 inch fan for $170 at Bugformance of san jose. that is a typical empi price. you can probably use the 72 plate cooler in teh 914 as it might fit better. the 96 plate goes in my bus

have fun
