not trying to disrupt the sale what so ever
but mind if I ask a couple of questions just for educational purposes...

-what years were these in originally?
-are they back lit, or not (I know the early cars had different dash lighting)
-are all of the taco plate sensor cars ones with this guage?
(ie: would that be a matched sensor?)

thanks for everyones time
just trying to figure out what to look for in the future

Brant,

As far as I remember (and that's not very far). They were installed in non-center console cars, '74 and up. The temp guage is for the Taco Plate sender, same as the center console temp gauge. The one imaged does not look like a 914 gauge (temp portion) that I have had possession of. The 914s I have had were white line to solid red.

It had to have been added at some point as that is is '73 and below Silver Dot combo gauge.

They are back lit just like any of the other gauges. You can add one in an early gauge by removing the parking brake lamp assembly (which I have never done). I believe you can also install the module for a 911 gauge in there too (which I will try just for the hell of it)!

And just for giggles, the beginning of the red band is 220 F or somewhere around there.
