914World.com _ FS/WTB: 914 Parts _ FS: An extraordinary TypeIV Motor

Posted by: ConeDodger Jul 7 2012, 06:03 PM

I have a chance to buy and install a motor I have always wanted at a price I can't turn down. Because of that, this motor is available. This motor is one of only 4 Raby 2432 TypeIV motors in existence and the only one he let out the door as a kit. I thank Jake for trusting me with it.

The build is well documented in the attached link to the thread. It's your chance to have a turn-key 225 HP motor with more than 200 ft/lbs of torque. The motor has less than 300 miles on it, and comes complete. Meaning everything except the gauges that are attached to the motor come with it. Because of the thread, you get to see exactly how it is installed. And, there is no wait. As soon as your check clears, we can make arrangements to get it out of mine and into yours.

Reach in and turn the key tame, yet just as wild as you can get in a TypeIV.

$13K OBO plus shipping.

SWEET!!!

Posted by: ottox914 Jul 7 2012, 07:32 PM

WOW. If only there wasn't a "1" in front of the "3" I might have a chance. Seems an awesome motor for anyone.

Dare I ask what could be awesomer that you are now going to be installing?

Posted by: ww914 Jul 8 2012, 08:04 AM

Geez Rob, what could be nicer than that motor? Must be a 3.2?

Posted by: Jake Raby Jul 8 2012, 06:51 PM

Rob,
You are selling it way too cheap. Post it for sale on my forums where it will be appreciated.

Posted by: ww914 Jul 9 2012, 07:31 PM

Hey Rob, what is your link to the new engine. It was here, but apparently got wiped out when someone cleaned house.

Posted by: ConeDodger Jul 9 2012, 10:13 PM

There was never a link to it Warren... I am keeping it pretty much secret until I unveil it in the Another Damned Project Thread...

I'm betting on a 3 cyl water pumper from a Geo metro turbo boosted to 30psi...

Right on the money David. So far in testing though, the BOV just keeps blowing off... blink.gif We've had to walk back and find it on the road several times!

Either way, must be something cool to make you give up that hot-rod type4

Posted by: Rand Jul 12 2012, 12:00 PM

Paul pushed you over the edge? smile.gif

Posted by: FourBlades Jul 12 2012, 12:27 PM

Supercharged Merlin... biggrin.gif

Might need to cut the rear bumper a little to fit it in. smash.gif

Sounds like an exciting project is starting.

Well I guess this settles the 6 vs. 4 debate as far as ConeDodger is concerned.

Not really Peter... I don't believe there is a debate. Both engines have their own traits that make them good for one thing or another. There is nothing like the feeling of a light nimble Type IV on an autocross course in a properly set up car. Even a stock 2.0 with a good driver will beat a 6... Heck, this motor has beaten GT3's and 911 Turbo's in it's second and last autocross.
This motor is as close to my goal as a Type IV can get. It is tame and has manners in traffic but hit the loud peddle and all hell breaks loose. With this fuel injection, you can quite literally reach in, put it in neutral and turn the key to start it. In a stock bodied car, it has approached the magical 10 HP:Weight ratio with an 8.9. I literally had to flare the car because this much power and torque overwhelmed 30 years of autocross experience. with 16X6 Fuchs shod with Victoracers I was all over the place...
I want very much for my wife to learn to drive and autocross this car. For that to happen, she has to not be afraid of it. I doubt any of you guys would be intimidated by this snarling little bitch of a motor. She hangs on for dear life just going for a ride! I am looking for that magical 10 HP:Weight ratio, with heat and street manners. That will build her confidence. I am still a very big fan of the Type IV motor...

Sure wish I had something to trade. Hell, I'm all tapped out after buying Betsy, even though that motor would be nice in her.
