914World.com _ FS/WTB: 914 Parts _ left side outer clam shell for the long For early 4 and factory 6's

Posted by: rick 918-S Oct 26 2014, 06:20 PM

I just cut this part off a 71 parts car I have. This is a nice left side outer rocker. I am going to split the inner and outer panel. so I'm only selling the outer panel. It's a lot of work to split these panels so this isn't going to be a cheap part.

I am only selling this panel to a guy that needs a panel for a factory 6 or high end restoration. The early stamping is not being reproduced and the triangles available are for the right side and face the wrong way when installed on the left. This is going to cost $ 250.00. plus shipping.

I'll post more photos when I get the panels separated. The part will include the rear rail section you see that is attached as well the triangles and jack post. If I were going to use this I would send it out to be E-Coated.

Rick, I'm looking for the inside drivers long for a factory six... any chance it survived or is that the piece you needed? Looks like you spent time working at an oyster bar, nice job on the split!

The rust you see is surface rust only. I left the spot flanges intact. You will need to grind and split the spot flanges to get a single layer. I have done lots of this and it goes slow to do it right. You can't buy the left side rear rail. I left that section attached. This is where all the trouble begins. If I were to use this panel I would split the spot welds, dolly the flanges and send it here.

The inside has the usual issues. I cut the flanges off the inner to save the outer. confused24.gif

If you have left side rust you need this part for a correct look. Restoration design makes the late style part. It fits fine but does not have the correct stampings they don't make the left side rail section. icon_bump.gif
