I will be out in the pnw next week planning to bring family heirlooms back with me to the Midwest. Clearing out estates. Salt has eaten my 94 ford escort alive so rather than rent a truck am considering buying one. Looking for the size of a ford ranger or Chevy s10. Plan to visit a dealership, but thought I would toss it out here. Not at all sure if this or any other forum is appropriate, but still could use some help.

How much stuff do you have to move? Perhaps one of those P.O.D. units would be more cost effective. "Seattle area" is kinda broad.

Thanks. Is there a chance I could meet you this trip? Would love to see your car.

I want to move oil paintings, pictures, pottery, odds and ends, a lathe my dad saved for and bought in 1936, and his band saw from Sears and Roebuck. So it is sort of a jumble.
Willing to drive from B'ham past Tacoma and out to Cle Elum to find a truck, and would love to buy one in Orting or Humptulips. Do not know if you have experienced the ravages of the rust belt in full glory, but believe me, rain is nothing compared to sanded brine.

I looked around craigslist. A gazillion miles and clean ones fetch a premium. No telling what the REAL maintenance has been. Rent a van big enough to handle the machinery? With the rental there is some piece of mind. A used truck loaded and broke down in eastern Montana would be a nightmare. Broke down anywhere as far as that goes.
