914World.com _ FS/WTB: 914 Parts _ Sideshift tranny, linkage, shifter and misc spare gearbox parts

Posted by: type11969 Jun 18 2016, 07:46 AM

Was planning on tearing this tranny down, rebuilding and selling, but its just been sitting in my garage for 4 years. I want the space back. Should be a good core for a rebuild or may be usable as is. Note that the trans is complete, it has not been torn down (the parts pictured are spares from another transmission).

The 914 that it came out of had 69k miles and hasn't moved since the late 80s. It was parked in a damp garage and it rotted from the ground up. There is a bit of corrosion on the tranny itself, but it brushes off. Nothing mechanical.

The box of parts is left over from a rebuild session with Dr. Evil - not sure what is good and what isn't. Certainly the best parts went in the tranny I have, but there still could be some gems in there.

Also included are the two sideshift linkage pieces and the gearshift - only piece missing to perform the conversion is the engine bar outside of mounts, bushings, etc that can be purchased new.

$350 obo takes it all. Local pickup only or shipping is possible if you are willing to handle packing cost and setup.

Let me know if you have any questions.

-Chris

I may have a spare set of sideshift linkage too if anyone is interested.

How much for all of the loose parts shipped to CO?

I have a tail shift that I would like to convert to Side, and it looks like you have the required parts in that stash (minus the actual external shift console)

Or I might be interested in JUST the shift rods.

Honestly not sure if all of the parts are there, but I'll grab a weight and box size later this weekend and let you know.

Bump

And Stu, just realized I never got back to you about shipping costs. The box of parts is about 10x10x10 and weighs at least 20 lbs. Off the cuff I am going to say that it will cost somewhere between $30 and $40 to ship to CO, but if you are still interested, I can get more specific (just send a zip). I will get back to you faster this time!

I never fully understood how much you wanted for all the loose parts.

You said above $30 to $40 for shipping, but I did not understand if that was JUST shipping or the total.

Stu-

Sorry I never followed through. I'm pretty sure the parts in that box all came out of tailshifters, but I don't pretend to be an expert on the subject. I'll take $20 for the parts, not including shipping. Let me know if you are still interested and I can a real shipping quote.

BS - you would need to look in to this, I am not willing to crate. I can drop the tranny off at whatever shipping location is willing to crate this up, you just need to let me know where/when. My zip code is 08108 if you want to do some research - let me know what you decide.

Bump - $300 for the tranny, spare parts, linkage bits and shifter.

If you should decide to ship, get a large Rubbermaid tote from Walmart. No need for a crate. The trans will ship safely with a bit of padding. Tote is part of shipping costs.

Interesting - would you recommend UPS? Or greyhound only?

Posted by: rhodyguy Oct 22 2016, 06:42 PM

$80? Across the states via FedEx. I sent 1 or 2 to mike years back. 2 tubs of clinic parts. Best rate with a free FedEx account and shipping at a distribution center. Zip tie the lid shut. LOTS of ties. The tub is around $17. The account works well for me as my d.c. no longer accepts cash.
