Parting out this type 4 engine. I think from the SN it is a bus engine.

The engine was seized due to water getting into one cylinder and rusting the rings.

Once the pistons were removed the crank rotated freely.

I have most of the parts from the engine, so PM me what you need.











I don't want this to go to the metal recyclers...

How much is a Type IV engine worth with all its parts at a metal recycling place, just for curiosity's sake?

Check the 914 info I believe you have a 73 1.7 engine.

According to my reference material it is a 1972 / 1973, 1.7L, 72 HP California engine.

Not sure how they lowered the HP on these, But I understand the case on these is actually one of the better castings

Good to see you posting around here again John! How much for one pushrod? My old, original motor is still in the garage and it wasn't till after I had pulled it out that I found out one of the pushrods was screwed up from me installing the retaining wire wrong.
