I'm looking for a shift rod for 6 conversion, side shift trans. Does anyone have one sitting around?

I am building a 914/4. I was pressing the pin out of my old shifter to replace the bushing in the U-joint and it exploded. No kidding. I probably should had shot it with penetrating oil, but there was no sign of corrosion. Save yourself a lot of grief and buy new from Tangerine racing. It looks to be a superior product anyhow. The gear shift linkage in 914s were horrible in the first place.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. I've pulled the pin on those many times. Not the funnest job. I was making the same type of shift linkage mods as Chris at Tangerine for many years before he was offering them so I am just looking for the rod. I figured if someone already has one that they don't need any more it will save me some time.

Is what you're looking for ?
This is fabricated using the front and rear parts of a standard side shift rear piece.
The small curves and straight portion are clipped from a rear shifter, rear part.
It's needed for my car.
This can be done many ways. It must be accurate.

The couplers are fragile and will no take much pressure without breaking.
I had a shift rod with a stuck pin, Heated it with a torch do soften and dig out the bushings. Then heated with a Map gas torch trying to direct to heat on the pin and not the aluminum coupler. With the bushings out you can insert a socket through the coupler to contacting the square block. With it supported there you can use a vise or BFH and punch to loosen the pin. Worked it back and forth until the pin cam out.

Nice billet couplers are made fir 911 which work in a 914.

I think it it Rich Johnson, member here that makes them. I thing you need a 914-4 rod for part to send to him.

I fabricated it for my car. It's not for sale.
If you have no luck elsewhere and can provide the described parts I'd be willing to make one for you.
But.... your headers and possibly other factors will have to be considered.
