How much for the rear bar?

Posted by: Mr.Nobody Jun 9 2018, 10:40 PM

Sorry for the delay. I've got family that just came into town for an overnighter. I'll be back to answer everyone tomorrow.

Thanks for understanding.

I agree. Please read rule #2 above.

Dibs on rear chassis kit pending price.

Can pick up this week.

Posted by: Mikey914 Jun 10 2018, 02:53 PM

Put me in line for the 1.7 stuff. Pending pricing.

Posted by: Mr.Nobody Jun 10 2018, 03:49 PM

Sorry guys. I was just trying to unload some stuff that I didn't need and as you all know one man's trash is another man's treasure, especially in 40+ year old cars. I hadn't spent the time to research all the prices as I'll be honest, I don't have much free time. While yes, under the second bullet point up top of the classifieds it says "please put a price in your ad," it does not say prices must be posted and I figured we could all be adults and go off of my original post, second paragraph "Reasonable offers accepted plus all PayPal and shipping costs." If that's to much I'll try and get prices for everyone.

In the meantime, I am working through my pm's. Sorry for any confusion my post may have caused. I'm not trying to be difficult, just trying to move some stuff that I don't need as I know someone out there needs something.

Thanks for everyone looking.

So, the rest of us follow the rules, but your exempt from them? Make an offer, that means you will take the "highest bidder"Yes, it takes time to research and put a fair price, but we do it anyway. I think the section is called rules, not suggestions. If you don't want to play by those rules, there is nothing i can do about it. Good luck with your auction.

Sorry you couldn't be appeased

I'm not trying to auction. Just giving people first come first serve at a chance to make a reasonable offer like adults, if the offer they make is reasonable, then they can have it. I'm not starting bidding wars here. Sorry you seem to look at it in another light.

In simpler words, well... bye.

Where are the moderators? All of us that have posted and sold items over the years comply because that's what it is asked of us to be a member of this great community ....and then you come along and think you're special. Wow.

Posted by: Jeff Bowlsby Jun 10 2018, 05:55 PM

He’s got a point in that it does say “guidelines” below where it says rules. Moderators may want to clear up the mixed message.

Posted by: rdauenhauer Jun 10 2018, 06:24 PM

Speaking of moderators where is Shea? Is he the keeper of the classifieds?
Just assuming since its his fingers all over the Stickies.

Posted by: rhodyguy Jun 10 2018, 06:39 PM

Back in town. Hubba hubba. No need for Eric on this one. I might be way off base on this. "Please put a price IN YOUR AD...". I believe this is a AD. I THINK you are be asked to include a price. I dunno. Figure out what you WANT for your stuff. Not what it MIGHT be worth. Like $50 takes it all. I'm pretty sure it MIGHT be worth THAT much. This is not an auction site. Try eBay. You do know you're responsible for shipping quotes, right? Very time consuming.

Mark, I have some 1.7 fi gear. By perusing the classified histories, I think I know what the parts might be worth. Not MY ad so the prices are super top secret.

Posted by: Mr.Nobody Jun 10 2018, 06:56 PM

Lot of ruffled feathers in here. That wasn't my intention.

Relax fellas. It's just a web forum. I guess I'll start looking up prices.

Posted by: The Cabinetmaker Jun 10 2018, 07:24 PM

This is not just a forum. This is community. A community I'm proud to be a part of. Thank you for posting prices.

Hey Curt, you need to step back off the ledge here. Not sure what got your knickers in a bunch but Andy seems like a great guy. I PMed him about a part and offered a price. He countered with a reasonable price and I accepted. Not sure why you are all worked up. Why not give the guy a break.

Posted by: The Cabinetmaker Jun 10 2018, 08:05 PM

Hmm, not on any ledge. I asked the guy politely to post prices. He declined. After some other members also commented, he said he would. I thanked him. It's over. Move on

Posted by: Mikey914 Jun 10 2018, 11:02 PM

I'm out. I was just looking for some back up parts, don't really need these. It does help when you post prices, as to if you have a buyer. At $1 I'm in, not saying your price is not fair, but I really don't need these and was just acquiring a back up.

Do you have a pic of the bra where the tear is? Is it stinky? Do you have a 3/4” braided hose in that box? PM me.

As an admin, I have to point out that Kurt was right.

"Please put a price in your ad and state how you would like payment."

Please put prices in the ads when you first post them.

THank You.

Hey Ed Turbo...if you want it, I'll pass.

What about the possibility of a for sale section where price is not required? I am sure there are people who have stuff in their garages/parts hoards that they just don't need or have room for any longer or really have much idea of the value. For each of these people there most likely is a corresponding person who needs said part and has a good idea of what he would pay. Maybe require all correspondence by PM only, so there are no bidding wars? See a part you need offer a price, done. No flames no fights. And the regular for sale/WTB section goes forward without these occasional interruptions. I'm sure there is downside but I'm just not seeing it.

The forums and rules for those particular forums are designed as they are for a reason. The admin here has spent a lot of time setting up things like they are.

The following is an editorial. Just my opinion:

A seller does not list prices and receives offers by pm. He waits a week and takes the best offer, or he doesn't like any of those offers and people are left wondering. Case in point. There is a year old thread at this time that has gone exactly that way. Original poster has not answered pms, or posts for a year. Doing the transaction completely by pm takes away the ability of admin to keep people on the up and up. I can't see why posting prices is such a huge deal. A quick search of this forum and ebay will give an idea of what something is worth. Want to flame me for accepting the rules? Flame on.

Alright, we get it already. Let the adults talk. You seriously need to give it a rest already. The mods already chimed in. Walk away and quit barking any time this thread posts up. At this point your acting like a childish nuisance trying to bugger up another members fs thread. I have had no less than three people tell me you're acting ridiculous. I get it I broke the rules, but get over it already.

I was never trying to rip people off. I never had any issue with posting prices. I was trying to hook people up by letting them make lowball offers but apparently you, the site, or other members have had issues with "make offers" type posts in the past. Although I see there are other make offers posts in the classifieds and you don't seem to take issue with them. Quit making this bigger than it is. You sound ridiculous. Let it rest. Go away.

For f's sake you guys wonder why you can't attract younger generation to take care of these cars.

Anyhow, thank you to those of you who have been cordial and offered support as well as those who have purchased. If this is my last post here, so be it. I have a lot of admiration for this site. It's a great resource, but if you guys can't keep your cool on nothing issues then I'll find other ways to take care of and preserve my 914.
