Does it come with the trans ( VW bus trans ) as pictured ?
What did this come out of ? What is the engine number ? If it is a 75 914 engine it would have the smog ports which I do not see. Heads are 2.0 914, Linkage for left carb not installed.
Starter has a bolt missing. Maybe put on for show?

I see the right side cylinder tin has been cut for an AC compressor.
Also see a back cylinder tin missing. Were the tins recently repainted ? The top tins are missing the screws. And more linkage hardware left on the right side tin. Not trying to be overly critically but engines run with out all the tin in place do not cool properly.
Any compression numbers ?

BTW that is a 912 or 356 distributor that would be worth a lot more to an owner of one of those cars. A vacuum advance distributor would be a better choice.
Good information helps sell engines.

I made an appointment to see it run tomorrow afternoon. I'll report back.

It may be a suitable option for my next car. I already contacted McMark and expect to ship him another 2.0L engine by next week for a full rebuild.

The 019 is actually a driveability upgrade from 009 for a VW type 1 motor. BR18 and 022 are the dist. of choice for 912 and 356, they have enough more advance than the 009 or 019 that they tend to kill type 1 motors. The 050 is the closest thing to the BR18 and 022 and is probably the dist. of choice for a carbed 914.

This link shows advance curves of the different ones, with the 009 at the bottom for comparison. Also if you click on "VW Distributors" 3rd down on the left you can see the advance curves for 010 009 and 019. If anyone is interested.
