914World.com _ FS/WTB: 914 Parts _ SOLD FS: Shifter Rebuilt 73'up w/"Lock Out"

Posted by: johnhora Aug 27 2018, 03:14 PM

SOLD...

I have another side shifter shift unit for sale.
This one is a unique one in that it has two additional springs that add pressure on the 1st / R placement of the lever thus making a sudo "lockout".
This is an old school trick that works well for autox and track cars.
Less nicking gears when down shifting.
Actually pretty cool.

Driver quality condition.
Rebuilt from inspected and serviceable good parts.
Lubed with Swepco moly grease sparingly as it should be.
As you can see the 1st/R slide plate and pin is in excellent condition.

$55 plus shipping... paypal accepted

I like the concept of the extra springs as I do have a tendency to nick reverse at times.

Is this (pseudo lockout) an easy 'mod', John?

Where did you source the extra springs? ... from another shifter?

Mark...
This was a kit sold by some vendor a long time ago
way before the rennshifters and etc.
It may have been a Weltmeister brand part.....Maybe Geo H remembers...
It's an easy mod...
four holes to drill for the rods and then a little mod on the shift plate to allow the extra springs to move unobstructed..
The extra springs and locating rods are smaller than the stock ones.
It's a pretty cool mod and does really help.
I never tried it but you could possibly use the oem springs..
