Jerry- go ahead and let Jeff have them, I was just grabbing them for spares.

I'm told that there should be a 914.XXX.XXX.XX type part number on these, but all I can see is the VW logo cast into the lower control arm along with some other characters I can't read.
can anyone clarify or provide guidance please ?

Hi Jerry. Here is one photo I have of what the PN looks like on these struts.

PN's

914 341 091 34
914 341 092 34

Let me know what you find out.

after checking one of my 911 type struts I was thinking that the part numbers were under the top water shield, but no luck there either. looks like a false alarm. (odd that they have those camber adjusters on top... and came from a buddy with a 914 & 911)
sorry for the confusion.

I would be happy to come over to see these Jerry, let me know.

It could be that factory installed struts had the numbers, and spare parts did not; or vice versa.
