Looking to get my 1.8 engine fully rebuilt, and while we are at it the transmission as well. I live in the Norwalk CA area 90650. If anyone knows of anybody reliable and experienced in these type of engines. I'm not looking for a high performance engine. Just a good reliable engine. Thanks

Check a VW shop in your city. Can’t remember the shop’s name but he used to race a bug with 914 engine and did few 914 engine rebuild to some members here.

Hector at PCH Garage did my 1.8 as well as 2 other members here. He knows the TYPE IV motor
A little further away, worth talking to.

Nice.... roughly how much did he charge? Just so I get a basic idea.

I just had my 1.8 rebuilt at "The Wright Gearbox" in Riverside. I believe it cost $2,900 or so, and that was with upgraded 96mm pistons/heads. (oh, and that was bringing it into the shop already out of the car)
