914World.com _ FS/WTB: 914 Parts _ WTB - rebuildable 320i caliper cores

Posted by: macmike83151@yahoo.com Apr 3 2020, 09:48 PM

Howdy all,
Doing the front brake upgrade but nobody has 320i calipers - at least any that aren't gold plated :>/

Let me know if you can provide a rebuilt or rebuildable set.

Many Thanks

You might have better luck there.

I've sourced stuff for my 85 E30 325e at them, & E21 320i is mine's predacessor.

I think I've got a set of parts store remans. I got them for an early 914 and never put them on. Let me check and see if I've got them, condition, and see what a fair price is.

Hello again, not to be a pest but hoping we could get those calipers on their way to my 73 in the near future.
Regards, Mike

I have a pair that worked perfect off my V8. Let me think about whether I want to sell them for a bit.

WTB: Also interested in a pair of BMW 320i front calipers

Guys - can’t you just pretend you own a BMW 320i and order a new set from like 20+ differnt sources?

I freely admit I spent all of 45 seconds checking but they seem available.

Do they need to be modified?

Edit - is the issue out of stock status from the big suppliers?

I do have a set. They are remanufactued that I got at my FLAPS 19 years ago for a ‘71, which I still have. I also have a NOS Ate pin and spring kit for these as well.

I’d agree that your local O’Reilly, NAPA, etc is the best place to shop, and just pay the core charge, which is what I did when I got these. Have you checked with any boneyards?

They bolt up to early struts but require machining for later struts to get the rotor to center, or you can’t get both pads in. I don’t remember what the spec is for that.

It’ll probably take me a couple days to figure out what they are worth, I have no idea

Wow - fantastic - I tried local dismantlers and CL for parts cars - They are out of just those items in many cases.

Let me know what is fair for you - I know they weren't more than $50 from Napa but that was then this is now so...

I may have a set of pads too, I wasn't thinking about them. I'll let you know

MacMike was first. But if he does not want the calipers, let me know. A lot of parts places list the calipers but do not have them. About 4 months ago, on another 914, I scoured everywhere and was not successful calling the parts places. I ended up buying them from a dismantler in LA.

I was at Pick your Part in Bakersfield about two weeks ago and there was an '82 320 there with the calipers on it.

Might be worth a trip.

So it looks like availability is an issue then.

For those that may be fairly new here @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=439 is a super guy to work with.

You can get a perfectly restored set from PMB for $325. Pretty sure that's outright, no cores required.

Thanks @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=21666 smile.gif

I did find a set of Porterfield R4S pads for the calipers. PM sent

I just went to the local auto parts chain store and ordered reconditioned ones.
Cheap, they didn't care if I had cores, they may or may not be able to provide them though. They looked it up, they were out of state and shipped them over.
It was O'Reilly auto parts.
Something like 1982 320I front calipers.

YMMV
