I found this the other day looking for something else. Looks like Porsche decided that they weren't selling enough complete axles.

That is good to know. Still too expensive but better than nothing.

Is that the CV which was incorrectly listed that @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=20845 and I both bought then returned?

Kent I'll give Sunset a call on Tuesday and do some digging.

Cary,
I wonder if these are actual Lobro CV joints or some Made in China repop??

Thanks,
Dominic

Pretty sure they are the same ones Kent and I bought. They are Lobro but are 914-6 joints. It appears what happened is that years ago Porsche superseded the part # for the 914-4 axle assembly with the 914-6 because it is a direct bolt-in replacement. Then fairly recently (maybe a year ago?) somebody got the idea to offer the joints alone as 914-4 parts about the same time they jacked up the price on the axles. The joints won't fit on a 914-4 axle though as Kent said. It's crazy screwy.gif

You could order some custom full floating axles and use them.

You could but that is like having the tail wag the dog. Axles will cost about $200 a pair.
I think Eric PMB and Chris Foley are offering modified VW CV's for about $100 each.

Still looking for one NOS cv joint....

Posted by: yellowporky Jun 20 2020, 08:37 PM

When i was looking for axles for my 73 i learned that Gaudin Porsche in Las Vegas had some 914-6 axles in stock so i called them and learned that they had 914-4 axles too for about $700 each or cv joints without boots for $130.
Maybe this will help
Chris
