914World.com _ FS/WTB: 914 Parts _ 914 muffiers made in USA

Posted by: Villemi Aug 2 2020, 03:03 PM

What do you think of it?

So the 914-4 2.0 & 914-6 sport mufflers are done and available for purchase.

914-4, 2.0 sport muffler - $500
914-6 sport muffler - $500
GT muffler bracket - $50
Muffler hardware kit - $40
Shipping - $65

We’ve tried to make these the most affordable, high performance stainless steel mufflers available. They are handmade in Wisconsin.

In order to properly support these mufflers, a GT style bracket that holds the muffler body to the transmission is required. The stock Porsche “boomerang” muffler will not provide adequate support. We also offer a hardware kit that supplies the nuts and bolts, muffler body straps and exhaust gaskets, so you can install your muffler the day you receive it.

Thanks, mark

Single, dual outlet? Pics would be great. Thanks for working on a new product for these cars.

Posted by: mepstein Aug 2 2020, 03:14 PM

I now have both, single out the left side to fit under a stock valance and two out the back. I’ll have 4 of each style available next week. Small price increase but that’s life these days.

They look quite nice. Have a sound clip? I'm interested.

Hopefully someone who purchased one from the last batch will post. I don’t have a 2 liter car to hang it on.

Would love to hear what one of these 2.0 / 4 sounds like ..

How does it support the muffler? Will it work with other mufflers like original banana muffler.

It uses stainless steel straps to support the muffler. Just like a 911 or 914-6GT
I can’t speak to other products. It’s made to fit the radius of our stainless steel muffler.

I don't know. I've never heard a scart muffler. I also have never been able to match the actual sound of a muffler to a sound clip from the internet. I have a sound clip from the 962 that used to reside at our shop. The clip sounds cool but nothing like the sound in person. Same with the dozens of 911's that went through the shop. Maybe a real recording system will do it but my iphone doesn't.

BTW, we do ship international. beerchug.gif

If you check out my blog in my signature, you will see the muffler bracket installed with his SS quiet muffler. I did have to space it back due to the reverse switch on my 916 trans.

These are the same build quality as Steve's quiet muffler but the internals are simpler. The sound is "sporty", not Porsche oem quiet.
We make the quiet and GT mufflers when individually ordered.

How do you counter the effect of thermal expansion of the heat exchangers or exhaust tubes from the head exhaust port to the muffler itself with this fixed bracket? confused24.gif

I have a car using the 1.7 shaped SSI's (even though I have a 2270). Do you make a muffler that mates up to the 1.7 heat exchanger as well?

Porsche and many aftermarket muffler manufacturers have used this setup on their 911's for decades. No issues.

In production now. I can take payment now if you want to reserve one. It looks identical to the 2.0 side exhaust but fits the 1.7/1.8 heat exchanger.

Exciting news! Please add me to list. Any plans to make the dual outlet version as an option?

Unfortunately we have a delay for those waiting on the 1.7 mufflers. The fab shop cut the exhaust flanges incorrectly and we are waiting on a new batch to be laser cut. I don’t have a timeframe at the moment. If the people who have already paid can’t wait, I understand and will refund your money. Hopefully you can wait and to provide further incentive for your patience, I will include a complete hardware kit with your order for free. Exhaust gaskets, new hardware and stainless steel mounting straps. If you have already paid, I will refund the cost of the kit. If you haven’t ordered yet, the kit will be included with muffler purchase. Thanks for your support. Mark

I do have one 2.0 single side exhaust muffler in stock.
I will include a free hardware kit with purchase.

Little off topic, I just purchased Ben's 914-6 SS header and sport exhaust. Can't wait to install. Best, MarkAttached Image

I sure wish my budget would allow me to get a GT style and bracket for my 76 2.0.
Gotta see what I can sell.
