If you ever look at a photo of the inside of a 917, 908, 910, etc. in period, you'll notice the steering wheels weren't fastened with a flush head ALLEN drive bolt, they were attached using 6X domed, slotted Titanium screws.
I was able to dig up the vendor/part number for Stainless Steel screws that we used at Porsche for our 917 restoration to replace the unsightly looking black oxide allen drive bolts for MOMO steering wheels. No, they're not titanium, but titanium would likely be too pricey even for the 911 guys....
$9 shipped for a set of 6 screws.
Nice touch. You wouldn’t have an extra momo 8000 hub would you?
Hi Ethan, I'll take a set of those - pm incoming.
I have one set of screws remaining. If there is enough people interested, I can acquire more.
I'll take the last set ...thank you
should note for guys to only use stainless hardware with aluminum hubs. Never thread stainless into regular steel.
This is just a standard screw isn't it? M5x0.8 and 10mm long or so with a flat slotted head? Or was there something special about the 917 pieces that made them custom?
Ah, I missed that, thanks for the clarification. For what it's worth oval heads are standard as well.
