914World.com _ FS/WTB: 914 Parts _ WTB: Ben's Sport Muffler

Does anyone have one of Ben's sport mufflers they'd be willing to sell? Too loud for you? Never got around to installing? Collecting dust in your garage? Sell it to me! smile.gif
Thanks

No, he’s not going to make them again, at least anytime soon.

I have Ben’s last type 4 single outlet muffler that he made. I ended up not using it because of having a tailshifter. It’s new in the box as Ben sent it. Planning on putting it in the classifieds soon but thought it is worth a mention here.

If you have a 2.0 engine and purchase a muffler for it, don’t assume you have 2.0 heat exchangers. I had to switch out a couple of the mufflers that I sold for Ben because people assumed but didn’t verify. The 1.7/1.8 and 2.0 mufflers aren’t interchangeable.

2.0 he’s go strait back to the muffler
1.7/1.8 he’s have a curve upwards in the last half of the pipe.

Brian Bodart isn't making anything 914 related. Ben is/was the guy for these.

OTOH, Brian did provide a pair of superbly crafted large tube headers for a 3.4 conversion. Great craftsmanship.

As for mufflers, attached are photos of the SCART muffler on my 914. Unfortunately, these are not an inexpensive part but are the best built mufflers I've owned in my "50 years of enlistment" in the Porsche ranks. Sounds like nothing else.
The bottom photo is of the muffler for my '74 911. Absolutely no drone. These only "make music" when you ask for it. Otherwise they are very civilized for a sport muffler. I've got a great video with soundtrack of a "strafing" run near the farm. biggrin.gif
Mine came from Arling Wang of RSTRADA. He's a very good person to work with. https://www.rstrada.com

This is the one I'm interested in, with the narrow width canister.

Dansk make the GT3 type outlets. Pass.
We used to "roll our own" BITD. Not hard at all. Unfortunately a stock 914 muffler isn't going to be a good donor.

Good luck!

Would you be willing to post that video? I'd love to hear that SCART.
