914World.com _ FS/WTB: 914 Parts _ Red alert scammer

Posted by: sixaddict Jan 23 2025, 04:04 PM

So someone posted on a FB 914 group nice F & R bumpers for very good deal in Birmingham. Been going around with this guy since last night….first asked for Venmo, then pp (so of course I agree ) but then F&F. …..NO WAY.
So I have friend in the area so I say deliver and I’ll add $ for your trouble and gas.
Finally says ok to PP…..but gives me a different account number. I plug in but PP will not alllow payment backed by AX card. So I call and ask why. Their words …because high probability of fraud.
I offered cash at pick up……and he still hesitates. Seeing other posts so be careful.

I went on FB groups for some parts a while back and they were all too responsive and seemingly had everything i was asking for. I asked for pictures to make sure their part would fit and then used google image search to find the sources of the photos—turned out they were just stealing from multiple sources. Tons of scammers out there...do your research!

You know the old “ too good to be true”…..deal!
And they are very persistent……..don’t buckle when confronted with questions that .accuse them of BS.
Bumpers now down ….but a set of mirrors are up.
The interesting thing is that PayPal would have sent money from my bank or balance…….bur it would not allow use of AX card.

A sure sign. AX would have fraud protection, which could hold PP for any loss, unlike a direct funds transfer. PP obviously knew of fraud potential.

He leaves character devastation in his wake!

I LIKE this kind of weird...

Perfect early bumpers with tops for 5 c-notes? I just can not understand why you fell for that rubbish.

This was very educational, never thought of tracing sale pics with google images to see if they were copied from someone/somewhere else. Those bumpers look like an AA pic(except for the price lol) Also good to know Sir Andy has our back.

I was suspect from the beginning…………and as soon as the guy wouldn’t deliver to a local friend I knew he was bogus. The old too good to be true always applies!
My dunce comment had to do with SirAndy’s sending “I AM A SCAMMER” pm to acknowledge his corrective action that technicalninja pointed out.

The cashier at Whole Foods wouldn’t take a cash tip! Does that make her a scammer?

Posted by: rhodyguy Feb 5 2025, 12:27 PM

Probably not.

Pretty sure you were violating “policy” biggrin.gif
