I would take one of those also . I have been reading the posts this week on replacing the back pad and this seems like a clean DIY fix for my old cracking back pad .Will this fit my 1976 car?

Ben does the black or grey match the color and texture of the kits for the rest of the interior? Is it made with a form fitting finish on the back?

If it’s perlon then it would. Perlon matches perlon. It does fit the contour of the firewall correctly but you will have to to trim the extra material with a scissors

I just purchased the 914 Rubber plastic back pad core as mine was water damaged. Need some guidance on installing the perlon over the plastic core. The middle piece and two edges have contoured foam but the sections behind each seat have no padding it appears. Is some thin pad material underneath the perlon recommended for these areas from those who have done the perlon? Thanks

I’ll take a kit, just need to dig out the box with the new carpet kit to check cool, I think it is black.

Sorry your missing the point of this. it does NOT go over the back pad. This is in place of the backpad and just glues to the firewall.

You need a more stretchable perlon to glue it down without having to sew. I'll post up on another thread tomorrow.

If you are interested I just received my black one from Ben . If Ben doesn't mind ,I decided I would rather bite the bullet and open my wallet and find a good upholstery shop locally and have my original back pad recovered ,I wasn't thinking that this would also delete my interior light form its location . I am locally and you could get it now if you want it just send me a PM .

Nothing at all wrong with this pad (Well made and quality , Thanks again) if I was going GT style , my car is very original and it will retain more value if I stay original but I know my wallet will take a hit .

Does anyone have some pictures without the seats in the way? I'm really curious how well it fits the contours of the existing firewall rubber pad.

Will the California version of 3M77 adhesive work without the Perlon lifting?

That question always gets me. Here is why . Do you think I would put something in my car that fits loose or doesn’t look tight and fit all the contours all kidding aside they fit tight. No idea on the adhesive used in CA
