thanks to both of you! my lenses are a slightly darker orange, is this typical? were there two color variants, or are some lenses just faded?

YES, orange color was all over the place during manufacturing from 70's to 2000's.

can you send/post a pic of your lens? i'm trying to find one that more or less matches the color of my set, which have an orange on the darker side.

Yes but please take yours off, lay it on a white paper and post a picture. I can do the same.
They vary in original color and fade

I had a complete set of these until about a 1.5 weeks ago... I left them outside by mistake and we had a wind storm that set in and lasted for two days - now I only have one! I've searched everywhere for the missing one.. asked the neighbors, etc. I think the wind picked it up and carried it away

So - I may be in the market for one after the original poster get his.

Here is what i have. As I said it is difficult to know if they are the same shade. Your lighting looks darker. Mine is an indoor shot with inside lights. Your call.
