914World.com _ 914World Garage _ FREE 914 license plates

Posted by: VegasRacer Apr 2 2003, 11:35 PM

Under the Forum Topic of 'Members 914 Pictures' on page 15
I posted a picture of a U.S. run of license plates all with the number 914.
In my quest to assemble this collection I have accumulated a few 300 extras.
If you are lucky enough to have the initals that are the same
as the letters one of my duplicate plates, it is yours for FREE!

Post you 3 initials on this topic page, and you could be a lucky winner.

Come on. You guys aren't trying hard enough.
No matches yet. A couple are close.
I have a JFK, CCN, CGC, LJC, RAB, JMF, SA.
I forgot to think how much work was involved on my end.
I will have to get my list in order to do a more efficient search.
I will also be able to check for other related options.
I figured the odds are 1:5000 for a perfect match.
Don't feel bad. I don't have a JEP for myself.

Ladies and Gentlemen. I am delighted to inform you that we have another lucky winner. Dagdal 1967 will be receiving a white on red 1991 Arizona 'Grand Canyon State' # 4DG-914 in Vg-Ex condition. There is a sticker on the back of the plate indicating that it was once owned by a collector from Dallas Texas. Coincidently Doug's profile says that he is soon to be moving to Dallas. HUMMH! huh.gif One birthday, One new resident. Ya gotta be lucky if ya wanna win. Yes I know that the two fortunate ones got plates with only two letters. I promise that I go through my list and search for any possible combination and permutations based on the info. you provide. Example: I would call it a match for the DYL plate if I knew your name was Darryl. Some plates have 2 letters, most have 3. Some are all numbers and nobody wins.

Doug - To claim you prize just let me know your address. I also invite you to make a donation to this SUPER SITE 914world.com by using the Paypal link found in the top right corner of every page. I am making this shameless solicitation without the concent or knowledge of the fine folks who have provided this great forum for us 914 fanatics. Any winners in this FREE plate exercise are under no obligation what-so-ever. I just want to share with all my new friends.

TAH...unlucky at cards, etc. biggrin.gif

Posted by: VegasRacer Apr 3 2003, 02:57 PM

air six - YES! it would have been A LOT easier. But not as much FUN! It is a game. Plus I didn't want anybody to try to claim a plate just because they wanted one. (not that anybody here would ever do something like that) Also many of the 'extra' plates are not exact duplicates. And some have more value to me than others. But if I knew that they would be a cherished 914 memento in a new home I was willing to part with them. When the activity dies down on this topic I will post a list of some of the spares to spread around that will be availabe for just sending me the postage fee. The postage alone to give away all the plates would pay for several sets of tires. I did not aquire the plates free of charge, but I am happy to be able to donate them to my teener friends because I trust they will be appreciated more being proudly displayed in your garage than they are sitting in a box in mine. I remember what joy I got when I started this collection several years ago with each new found treasure.

Posted by: VegasRacer Apr 4 2003, 07:02 PM

I worked on a safety truck one year and pit lane fire crew (the worst seat in the stadium) another. Same for the Indy Cars. Been there done that. I get dizzy at NASCAR events. I get even more confused if I am on the outside of the track. The bikes were a lot of fun when the used to race in Vegas. Those guys are CRAZY! I really enjoy flagging when the American LeMans Series comes to town. To bad there are more people in the pits than in the stands. It is great racing and some fantastic cars.

Know what ya mean....when the Indy cars come to Fontana, it's a circus....EVERYBODY in the pits and garage area. NASCAR has a handle on that now with their new lights in the garage area. Lights come on......standard garage passes must leave. Anywho, just thought I would ask.........Dad biggrin.gif

My car originally had these plates:

IPB Image

It was too bad I couldn't keep them.

Posted by: anthony Apr 5 2003, 07:23 PM

They weren't personalized plates either. The DMV person pulled these plates out of the middle of the stack for the PO and he didn't even ask them to do it. The DMV in Nevada must hire nicer employees than they do in CA.

You just got lucky. I think that there might be two nice ones in Nevada.
I'm not sure. I always end up in the other line.
Nice and/or knowledgeable do not seem to be requirements to get the job.

Thanks to all of you who have played along and attached photos of your 914 cars and plates.
They are all great and I really enjoy seeing them.

My race car is without a plate but my permanent number is 419.
That way it looks like 914 when I spin.
These are the plates that are on my other two street legal vehicles.

bernbomb914 I have only one question to ask.
What is your mailing address?

As far as what it is worth. That is for you to decide.

The rules of the game are changing.
There is a thread nailed to the top of the feature request on the BBS
by one of our brother teeners who needs our help.
Later this week (when the details are all worked out)
A large group of 914 license plates will be made availabe to anyone who wants one.
Donations will be accepted/required to help purchase a wheel chair and van for korijo.

(Sorry about the poor quality photo but it is getting dark here in Vegas)

First off let me say thanks to so many of you for playing my free plate game.
The FUN continues with the same rules as originally posted.
The generosity of all you teeners is fantastic.
Bribery is not neccessry to encourage you to
make a donation for korijo's wheelchair fund.

While it is not part of the contest requirements
I do want to ask that if there are any winners (past or future)
who have not yet donated - PLEASE do so!

cavwpguy did you see my post on page 6 of this thread
regarding you choice of several R/B 914 plates.
Let me know?

acox914 I have a AAC-914 from New Hampshire
if that is close enough for you?

Glad to hear that some of the plates have arrived.

I have PORSCHE vanity plates from 12 states with various phonetic spellings.

I only have four 914 vanities. JOLS 914 from Arkansas,
UGLY 914 from California, VW 914 from Minnesota
and A BAD 914 from Illinois.

There are a few regular 914's up for grabs in the free plate contest
where the letters just happen to spell a name. (no I'm not telling)

I wish I had kept that plate, but I let it go to the guy I sold it to.

Had a lot of people at PCA events ask me what the 3 ment in my personalized plate.

I told them it was standard issue. biggrin.gif

Minnesota RKZ-914 or Colorado AAZ8914.

Sincere thanks to all of you who have donated for our ALS poster child.
So far 14 free plates have been sent to lucky teeners. boldblue.gif
Only 13 count as contest winners 'cause one was the 914 with the wheel chair logo that went to korijo.
So that means the next winner will be # 14.
And around here 14 is a very special number.
So lets do this Vegas style and double down.
The next winner also gets the special edition plate pictured below. GOOD LUCK!

Sorry Steve. As much as I would like to help out a local - you crapped out just like the other recent contestants.

I would like to give myself a special prize for having this, the 200th post on this thread. clap56.gif

Please stay tuned - some time next week I will be providing a list or photo of some of the extra 914 plates that will be available for purchase. The 'free plate contest' will continue. Since the frequency of request has dwindled, I want to make it possible for some of you who have asked (and were not winners) to get a plate of your very own.
