914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 74 2.0 stalls

This one has me stumped. The engine stalls momentarily on take off just after releasing the clutch and giving it throttle. I have replaced the centrifigul/points distributer with a vacum advance/electronic ign. I replaced the old 32/36 carb with a brand new 32/36 weber, and adjusted the timing to 27 and 34 deg. BTDC and back again; still, it stalls; has anyone ever seen this before with a carb conversion? Recent suggestions are: weak coil, carb facing the wrong direction, low idle jet too small. I am sure there are no vacuum leaks. The car had this set up when I got it 10 years ago and I am the first one to start the car in 20 years. The previouse owner said it ran fine back then.

THat is the nature of the beast!!! Center carbs with long intake runners have a

problem keeping the fuel from puddling in those long intake runners, untill hot.

Get use to it. Or get 40IDF's !!!! Dave slap.gif
