Hey all I have a 914 i just picked up with the crappy 2bbl carb kit on it, I am going to switch over to a 40 IDF setup the car is a 1.8 any recommendations on venturi and jetting sizes for it or where I can look up this type of informaiton?

I'd suggest getting your carbs from a reputable supplier that knows type 4's, and is familiar with engines like yours.

Don't get sucked into the false premise that if you don't get big carbs and venturis, you'll be giving up power.

You want an optimized carb/venturi/jet package, which ultimately depends on your engine specifics.

I'd use 28mm to 30mm venturis, 135 mains, 180 airs, 50 idles. If there is

a high performance cam in the 1.8, I'd go with 145 mains, 200 airs and

55 idle jets. Hope it helps.

Even those jets seem rich. I'm running 47 idles, 115 mains, F11 ET with 28mm venturis, and it's really happy. This is a 2.0l, but unless you enjoy wasting gas, leaner is better.

depending on how much it smokes when I fire it up I may switch out to 2L barrels and slugs
