914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Anyone WANT a 2000 Suzuki Hayabusa?

Posted by: steveherman Nov 30 2009, 04:28 PM

I am willing to GIVE you my Hayabusa for doing some work on my Porsche.
the value of the Hayabusa is between $5000-$6000.
I have a list that you must do to be given my Hayabusa.
--Fix front fender has it was in minor fender bender (i have fender if needed)
--Sand, paint and replace front bumper and valance (i have bumper and valance)
--Replace fog lights (i have fog lights)
--Recover bolsters (black) and cushions and back inserts with yellow plaid ($900 at AA) BUT you can use your own upholstery guy if you want i dont care how just as long as it is a good job
--Purchase and replace carpet (the cheap black loop carpet is fine)
--Purchase and replace a bunch of rubber (about $500 from mikey 914)
--Pull the motor clean it up a little (degrease, paint & seal if needed)
--Repair some surface rust spots (cali car, i dont think anything is major so no welding or cutting... IF WELDING OR CUTTING IS REQUIRED I DONT EXPECT THAT TO BE INCLUDED UNLESS SOMETHING VERY MINOR)
--While motor is out base coat and clear coat the engine compartment and rest of car
--Purchase and install electronic distributor with centrifugal advance ($150)
--Put motor back in, adjust the valves and get it to run right (when warms up it runs bad)
--Other minor things as we go are negotiable BUT i dont anticipate much

By my INEXPERIENCED ESTIMATION
-Interior $900
-Carpet $150
-Rubber $500
-Base coat clear coat $500
-Distributor $150

$2200 for parts and your labor

I AM ALSO NEGOTIABLE

Why not sell the Suzuki and then use the $ to pay to get those things done by a shop(s)?

Agree with selling it for the $. Contact Scotty B and see what he would charge for the work smile.gif

From a shop... yeah $5000 if they strip to metal... at least here.
this is meant more towards these guys on here that have done their own painting and done a damn nice job.
PPG v-seal sealer, Base, Clear, Activators and all the reducers are about $500

it is for sale...
but like the car market it is kinda dried up...
it is even worse for bikes with it being winter and all.

and my thinking is someone may want a haybusa but cant afford 5-6000...
but could afford $2000 give or take and has the time to do this.

I hear ya, Steve. Unfortunately, I know Scotty will not be interested. Too much bike and not enough green wink.gif Good luck. If it were mechanical work I could be all over it, but I dont do body and paint. That is masochism in my church. whip[1].gif

Two Hyabusa engines, one for each wheel, mechanical geniuses figure out how to synchronize. But I digress.
Actually old hat in the seven and smart world, but figured I'd throw it in here for mixed sakes....

i think it is a gret deal for somebody.
i COULD likely do it all... BUT I AM FAT AND LAZY.
someone with the desire could do it all in a week or two.

you prob have some guys that owe you favors...
from your posts i have concluded you are the type of guy to help someone out...
call for a couple favors and i am sure you could get the paint and body done.
i am not looking for a show car paint job... just a good one for a daily driver that will be babied.

I wouldnt do it for the bike. It is way too much bike for me. I need to sell one of mine anyway. I'd do it just because I could if it were mechanical smile.gif Come June, I will be enslaved and out of the charity biz for a long while. sad.gif
