914World.com _ 914World Garage _ oil leak!

Posted by: dumbjim Dec 1 2009, 10:02 PM

I have a slight oil leak where the two halves of the crankcase come together. I know the correct way to fix it would be to split the case, but I would perfer to use a non correct, band aid, type solution. JB Weld, silicone caulk, duct tape. Any ideas guys?

I'd just heat up the aluminum with a torch and fuse the two halves together. Ah huh. wink.gif

Good luck!

Welcome to the home of correct and non-correct solutions; the internet!

My solution to the same problem was a drip pan under the car...

Seriously, there probably is not a band-aid for that. Randy's idea may be a little excessive...

there is no band-aid... if it's not bad, then just deal with it until you can fix it proper

be sure that is where the oil is coming from, the oil can sometimes leak and run down to that seam, making it look like that's the leak... mine looked like that was the leak, but it was the galley plug.
