914World.com _ 914World Garage _ [OT] Anyone know late model VWs

Posted by: djm914-6 Mar 19 2004, 03:28 PM

Hi All,
Got a problem here at work. When I try to start the car, it cranks but doesn't fire. I can hear a faint clicking sound like a relay. I'm thinking that this is the 'factory alarm' cutting off something.
Any Ideas on starting this beast? headbang.gif

Side Note: how much $$$ for a NICE 914 driver? Any cars in particular

Not so sure I'll get the help I need there. This is a tech question and not how to install neon, a chip, or body kits.

try the fuel pump relay. Are you hearing the initial 3 second buzz of the fuel pump as it primes?
How much gas is in the car. On my GTI's there were two fuel pumps. one under the passenger side and a "pre-pump" located in the tank. If a pre-pump failed, my cay would run up until I went below 1/2 tank of gas.

Interesting. I don't think I heard the fuel pump now that you mention it. And, I'm just under 1/2 tank.

You can get teh help on the vortex, there are knowlageable people there, just ignore the children.

Might try a search on "coil pack" over there, they are notorious for that.

EDIT, you could also try the Mark III forum in addition to the VR6 forum.

The coil pack is what I'm worried about. I've already bought 2 or 3.
