UPDATED INFO:
These dates are FIRM. May 13-16 is the event. Thursday is a 'bonus day', so if you can't make it, don't feel too bad and still come for Fri/Sat/Sun.
Thursday Evening
Check-in is open and we begin gathering on the roof of the ramp. Keg tap and official kick off of Eric Shea's Birthday... err... "the WCR 2010 Teeners in Thin Air".
Friday
Morning: optional short drive, tech sessions on subjects such as brakes, transmissions, alignment, wheel polishing, and more.
Afternoon: peoples choice show and shine.
Saturday
Morning: Targa Tahoe drive gathering on the ramp.
Evening: BBQ on the roof provided by WCR 2010 Teeners in Thin Air including raffle for sponsor donations, peoples choice car show awards.
Sunday
Check out and return to civilization.
Alternative local area activities include the following:
Fishing charters for groups of 4-9.
Excursion and Interpretive History Boat Trips on the Lake (Covered Cabin with Windows if you don't want to be on deck).
Golf on a world class PGA Course within walking distance of the hotel.
Gambling. Many hotels including the host hotel have world class casinos for you to try your chances and win or lose some cash.
Restaurants. The full range from 5Star to the lowest of bacteria holes.
Independent drives around Lake Tahoe. Takes all day and requires a stop for food but the view of the lake is breathtaking.
Photo opportunities. You can pretty much just keep tapping the shutter on your camera because the Lake and surrounding area are beautiful no matter which way you turn.
Zip Line Rides. One of the local ski resorts has a ride up on the chair lift and zip line down. We think this costs about $60 but it would be a heck of a thrill ride.
Lodging
Harvey's Lake Tahoe will be ground zero.
Harvey's will have a section of their parking structure blocked off for 914's and they have security 24/7. Harvey's is the highest ranked hotel in Tahoe according to tripadvisor.com. They have a great casino and I'm sure they will be stocked up with alcohol, not that any of you fine upstanding 914 World members drink of course
Expedia is having a sale for Harvey's right now...for the same price we would have received! I don't know how long this sale will last, however if you book 2 nights or more, the price comes out to be the same we would have gotten with the group rate. Simply search on Expedia for South Lake Tahoe for the dates (May 13th-16th) and you'll see the discount for Harveys.
The rates right now are $59/Thursday, $77/Friday and $97/Saturday. This averages out to $77/night if staying Thurs-Sunday... I would suggest booking sooner than later since this is a sale.
I just found an Expedia coupon code that will save $10/night. Just enter 10WINTER when you are checking out...just worked for me, $67/night average!!

Original First Post:
I'm there... Just let us know the confirmed date.
Hmmmm
May 13th is a most beautiful day...
Just not on Mother's day. My wife will have a cow.
Whadimiss...? Wasn't this already scheduled for September?
Oh no Gint!!!
Oh goodie! Tahoe in May!!! I am so excited!
Hah! The 15th is and even BETTER day.
Good camping spots in the area that we could take over
I guess I need to revise my plan for finishing the car. Oh, that's right i didn't plan on driving it anyways. Maybe i should work on finding the right enclosed trailer.
Never thought about camping...though the way this year is going with the cold, there could still be snow!
I'll be there... This should be awesome...
I'm there this year, finally get to attend one! With the wife of course. Girlfriend didn't want to go! Just kidding Honey!! I know you will see this at some point!
I guess I better start hauling ass on all my 'secret projects'.
snow would be a cool addition though. take some good photos of the scenery and teeners
I'll be there, but prolly no chance my car will be done.
I used to live in Tahoe City, so it'll be like homecoming on the lake for me!!!
Geoff
Now I gotta figure out a way to attend this thing. Thanks guys!
Doesn't this date conflict with.......
Oh, never mind.
Woo Hoo!
Thanks to World and to the planners
amazing event
very very cool!
brant
I'd like to put together a list of fun activities we can do individually or as a group while we're in Tahoe. We're aiming to have an auto-x, but we're also going to have at least one day-drive. I need to know how long of a drive you're willing to endure. I was considering putting together a drive from South Lake Tahoe around just the East Shore of the lake, up and over Mt. Rose (9k') and then down into the valley and then back up into Virginia City:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=South+Lake+Tahoe,+CA&daddr=39.288608,-119.919891+to:Virginia+City,+Storey,+Nevada&hl=en&geocode=FfkSUgIdJC_Z-CnhT6XuiYWZgDGOkSP7Ri8b3Q%3B%3BFULRVwIdqUre-CnRr9rTqg-ZgDGpb1fcV9LaKQ&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=10&via=1&sll=39.120472,-119.799042&sspn=0.634994,1.452942&ie=UTF8&ll=39.010648,-120.094299&spn=1.271959,2.905884&z=9
Or we could go the more traffic laden way and go further around the lake:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=South+Lake+Tahoe,+CA&daddr=39.138582,-120.143738+to:Mt+Rose+Hwy%2FNV-431+E+to:Virginia+City,+Storey,+Nevada&hl=en&geocode=FfkSUgIdJC_Z-CnhT6XuiYWZgDGOkSP7Ri8b3Q%3B%3BFSiDVwId3hLa-A%3BFULRVwIdqUre-CnRr9rTqg-ZgDGpb1fcV9LaKQ&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=9&via=1,2&sll=39.010648,-120.094299&sspn=1.271959,2.905884&ie=UTF8&z=9
Coming back we'd just zip down the other side of the mountain from Virginia City and head back via 50 through Carson City.
That's just one idea. If you don't care about Virginia City, then there are a lot of other cool day drives. Thoughts?
As for concerns about the weather: Living as close as I do to Tahoe and having it as my favorite destination I can tell you that there is always snow at the higher elevations. Trees tower hundreds of feet in the air and if the sun never shines there, the snow pack just melts so slowly it lingers for months. I have never seen snow up there past April and even then it is only flurries that melt within a short time.
As for concerns about the hotel. The target host hotel is kind of the red-headed stepchild of the South Lake strip. It is troubled and currently has a limitation on its gambling license but I am not concerned about this as there are three world class hotel casino operations within 100 steps of the hotel, they all have restaurants and buffet operations that are fantastic, and finally 914World guys just want to stand around in the parking lot until 2am and see who "that guy" will be this year. Past performances by Eric Shea, Jeff Hines, Jim Tabor, and Allan Miller have set the bar very high and I hope to someday be "that guy". But, I am realistic enough to know that I will need these next few months to train and condition my liver for the events!
If you are considering camping, you should be an experienced camper as temperatures can drop to freezing late into the night. If a group of you camps, maybe you could get a cheap room to use for showers because no one wants to smell skank...
I don't think not having an autocross will break the deal for 99% of you but we are trying to get the cooperation of Sacramento Valley Region of PCA for which I am a board member. They want to help but there is a possibility that a track organization will offer PCA a free parking lot at Infinion for an autocross that same weekend. In which case, we will probably not make their calendar because I am just one vote and pure profit is a powerful motivation.
Thanks for giving us the time to work out problems and thanks for supporting the event with your attendance!
Let's get this party started with a green flag dropping!

Hope to be there too with a 'revitalized' silver six...BTW...lake level at Tahoe is 6,260± above it sea level...REALLY chilly in the am!
I wonder if Scotty can finish my car by then? I woudl drive out with MattP
It's on my calendar... I'll have to see how finances and school are going.
This is great news I'll have to see if I can clear a spot in work to go. The only bummer is we will have to put up with Rob's daily bumps to this thread
I be in.............
Since I made the "short list" I have to say.....my eye is healed and my liver is fair.....I'll be ready..... AND the good stuff......
Betsy and I are coming down. I already marked the time off. I have a too short list of projects this year. Change the oil, adjust the valves, clean the air filters and check the balance of the throttle bodies. I need a project.
Dave
Be sure to mark your calendar for the WCR 2010 Lake Tahoe Middle of Thin Air Event! And someone go kick Dave's fender in so he has something to do

Party at the pond! Lots to do - gambling, fishing, driving, bullshitting in the parking lot, maybe an autocross if I can get it on the SVR-PCA Schedule, Oooogling the cars.
Who's going to be there? Z. lives about 20 miles away now days so that is a lock. Rand is just 10 miles further than Z.. The Southern California crowd has always represented... How about you???

So I've decided to go to this thing.
I have two questions.
1. I haven't seen hotel rates yet and I'm guessing it's a little too soon for that. I'd like to get my reservations as early as possible. I noticed there was a hotel already chosen but I didn't see that there was a special rate or anything. Should I wait or make my reservation now?
2. I don't have a super nice 914 like most of you guys. It was a basket case when I bought it and I haven't had it a year yet so it's far from completion. I'll be in this ugly thing pictured below. It's looks may improve a bit by then but I doubt it. Count on the ugly ass skunk stripes to be off of the hood, though. So, will I be able to park it with the rest of your nice rides or will I be out on the street with the toyotas?
All the rates at Tahoe are pretty 'special' right now... I wouldn't worry about it. Occupancy is down, resorts are closing, the recovery hasn't gotten there just yet.
The weekend may change too...
I have seen much uglier cars front and center. We love them all...
I'm coming.
Would like more info on the Hotel (name, address, phone ); also, may have to fly up. How far is the Hotel from the Tahoe-Reno Airport ?
Is the date set or not ?
I have the /6 at Steve Willie's.....hope to have it running by then.
Is this the correct Hotel :

Online rates for Wed, Thur, Sun were $59; Fri $99; and Sat $119
Address 50 Highway 50, Stateline, NV 89449
Is someone looking into a group rate deal ?
We are still looking into a group rate. The nice part about the Horizon is they said they would block off a certain amount of rooms for the group and you'll just have to tell them you are with us. We don't have to commit to a certain amount of rooms before hand. One of the nice perks of having it in a location where there are a lot of hotel options...
But please don't reserve a room yet. We're still waiting on the PCA SVR to give us the thumbs up on our dates. We'll know sometime in January for sure.
Rob, do you know when in Jan that they'll have their 2010 calendar announced?
Thanks Rob! Those dates really help.
So we won't have a for sure date until Jan-Feb ?
Keep thinking about Tahoe!!! WCR in the Thin Air! Be There!
Maybe we will see this guy there... Hugging a toilet perhaps?

Newb Question: What does WCR stand for?
Thanks.
Pete
OK, so I've been re-deranging my garage to get the 914 parts shell inside too before the El Nino Monsoon hits this coming week starting Sunday, & have a pile of parts semi-organized - no surgery this year (I hope!), but there's a bat's chance in hell that it'll be anywhere near drivable by then!
For those whining about the snow - pack your skis & be happy!
My teener made the trip from SoCal to the WINTER Tahoe Resorts many times back in the day.....
......they do work in snow folks, & no salt allowed on California roads!
... and what's this about trailering - just f'ing it!
This will be the premier for my car. I should have made it last year, but the painter is what held me back. Now, I have no excuses.
Also trying to get the old man moving on his.....
Signal orange+flares=
Will there be a swap meet? I need to gain shop space...
I don't know about 'officially', but people have brought trucks of stuff in the past and I don't see any reason you shouldn't be able to this time.
I thought a mini swap meet during the show n shine would be fun too.
I totally agree. Lots of unofficial shizit goes on. I think it was Joe Sharp with the Neverland RV that fired up the generator and did a bumper backdate in the parking lot of the host hotel in Portland. Why not bring your stuff, yank it out and display it and see if you can go home with a lighter load?
Have the dates been finalized yet ?
Dates would be good if you want people to commit....
IIRC - they said that they were waiting for the local PCA meeting at the end of January to get the track time/AX ste-up, in order to finalize the dates.
So as my Dad used to say: "Keep your pants on!" ......... they'll get to it!
BTW - as a kid & teen, I did NOT realize the "other meaning" of that phrase, even after my Mom scolded him for using it!
I think after reading every post here, I'm gonna start up again on my project. It's been untouched for about a month.....
Sorry to leave everyone hanging, but we were just trying to confirm some stuff before announcing the dates. Unfortunately we weren't able to secure a lot for the auto-x that met the SVR's minimum size requirements, so we're going to have to scrap that idea. That's OK though, as we'll have plenty of other fun activities to keep everyone entertained!
Dates Confirmed:
Thurs May 13th and ending on Sunday May 16th.
Hang tight on hotel reservations. Now that we don't need the Horizon's lot, we're going to see if we can score a better deal elsewhere. We'll try to have something together by Mon/Tue of next week.
I should mention that Thurs is a bit of a bonus day. I imagine it'll mostly consist of BS'ing, drinking, etc.
Hey Guys & Gals
- be real careful driving up to Tahoe in May, cuz the CHP has a new speeder enforcement program .....
........ errr - uh really a revenue enhancement program to help the Governator AHHHnald close the State's huge budget deficit .....
.... and I hear they're being REALLY tough on the offenders, as you can see from the photo snapped by a passer-by below ........

I automatically assume there will be a SoCal caravan? Yes? Okay, good!
Alrighty then! The dates have been announced. Who is in? Oh and be sure to bring cameras as you can pretty much shoot pics continuously and never get a bad picture... Unless Shea shows up. His wife picks out his clothes
Attached image(s)
Rob nice Eastern Washington photo.
There are many great drives to and from the Tahoe area. You could head North on 89 and go to Susanville, very pretty cow country with winding roads. You can go East of Reno to the Reno-Fernley Raceway and do some lap time if you are licensed. The Mt Rose Hwy from Incline to Reno is quite fun, as well as 50 to 28 from S.lake to Incline. Great vistas and smooth turns should be had by all. Now I just need a 914 again.
Let's get those caravans set up guys! Only about 100 days until the 2010 WCR in Tahoe! Who's coming up? It would be great to see these three!
Attached image(s)
Have the fees been established ?
Not yet Jim but since we have let the autocross go, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how low they are. The hotel will be on your own and since there are a number of options within walking distance - even stumbling or carrying distance for "that guy", the registration will be lower than you might expect. Unless it is higher and then your perspective is skewed...
Lots of work going on in the background so watch for announcements and ask those questions or make suggestions. 100 days is actually Wednesday the 3rd so don't waste your garage time guys!
"We have Let the autocross go".......... So no "Track Fees"?
No chance of getting on Fernley raceway (thurs or fri)??? Just asking....
I do know how hard it to secure track time/run group for a day.....helped Howard do it for our "WCC".
We were lucky having "Streets of Willow" available for us to rent......
Sounds like you guys are doing a great job! Thank You in advance for your time and effort! Should be a fun event....................Rob
Just a quick poll - Generally speaking, what are people willing to pay for a room/night?
We were thinking more like $400/night...
Just kidding! We're finding some nice digs below $100.
The original place mentioned had an average rate of $96
That $100/night range is probably going to be pretty close.
I'm down for it this year!..............hopefully
Ooooh la la.
How does she like spending 72 hours with a bunch of car guys, looking at, talking about, and showing off cars? There is booze involved, so usually that makes the situation a little easier. If you/she thinks it's going to be anything but all cars all the time, you're joking yourself.
We've got this shindig on the calendar!
I may have missed it but when can we expect the specifics on hotels etc.?
It's been a few years since we've been to Tahoe but the last time was spectacular!
I know the competition will be tough but I've been training hard for the "That Guy" Award.
Thanks to all for organizing this event.
Not look`n good for me but i mite be able to pull something out of the bag we will see
I need to start training if Jim is going to be there. Hmmm.... Where's that list, Tookilla, hmmm now where's that blade of grass.. Oh ya under the snow!
I am in the process of pitting hotel's against each other to try and get the best rate, and give us options.
So far, Harvey's is in the lead:) More info to follow very soon!
Thanks Jim but we are contacting the hotels directly and the good news is, we have received numbers lower than that.
Parking is free in Tahoe, we are also working on getting a section of lot blocked off just for us.
I'm going to have to see how my schedule works out... but I'll be in school at that time. Might still work out... if I can work a schedule like I have this term, I have no classes Thu-Sun.
I am going to see if I can fly into Portland and drag some of these guys down. Lets see if I can make some $$ to cover the cost
Anyone need a rebuild? Bolts? Engine stand adapters? etc?
The Tranz rebuild video should be done by then
After many phone calls and emails, we have our host hotel for the event!
Harvey's Lake Tahoe will be ground zero.
Bad news: After talking with the hotel meeting coordinator, in order to get their group discount, we would have to agree to a minimum # of rooms and be on the hook if we did not fill them. After the fiasco with Mark a couple years ago, we will not agree to that.
The great news: Expedia is having a sale for Harvey's right now...for the same price we would have received!
If you have any questions, feel free to post them here and one of the planners will respond.
Only 14 weeks until 914's by the Lake!
EDIT: I just found an Expedia coupon code that will save $10/night. Just enter 10WINTER when you are checking out...just worked for me, $67/night average!!
Crap. I need to book. I hate not staying at the place where it is happening. I did that in 05 and I felt left out I just talked to Jakeodule and it looks as if I am gonna be flying out to OR and driving down with him.
Alright, I just told the wife that I was going and she did not object. Looks like I am going to use my credit card in the mean time. So, I am saying that I am going. God help me.
John and I are planing on taking the long east route down and hauling ass. Be warned.
I'm booked; thanks for getting the site.
Booked it! Didnt see the code
I was planning on it, but I don't think I can meet with my daughter in Vegas and do this too. You'll just have to party without me.
Room booked for Friday and Saturday. If Jamie doesn't want to share a room, I'll be open to sharing with someone. Thanks for the coupon tip...saved $20 on top of the expedia special--$168 out the door.
Booked.
Booked, booked and booked. Much thanks for the coupon tip.
ACES AND EIGHTS!!! WOOHOO
I dont gamble so I will have to drink more
Its ok Mike, I don't drink so you can have the free cocktails I'll get at the craps table:)
Yeah, that seemed pretty reasonable. It think it was $221 for 3 nights with the coupon code. I plan on going east as well. I'll be going East from my house in the Mckenzie valley to Bend. Then hwy 97 to 31 to 395.
Just a note for you guys who share rooms. When I booked, I said we would be two adults and one child age 12. They charged an extra $20/night. So keep that in mind.
Z is literally only about 40 miles away. He would be an honored guest and as always "that guy emeritus" so you don't have to go to Carson City...
Well, I was originally going to bunk up at Mike's house for the weekend but decided I didn't want to be left out of the fun. Plus I might decide to drink and there's NO WAY I'm driving after that....I'm a light weight. So my new plan is to possibly bunk at Mike's on Wednesday night and Sunday night since I only rented a room for Thursday through Saturday.\
OR, I might decide to drive to Ball Sac on Wednesday and visit some of my old Air Force pals that never left after we got out of the service. Oops. I meant Sacramento. But probably not since I've already spent time in Sac County and the military jail at Beale AFB......I was just a kid then.
BOOKED!!!
When you book, if you aren't a ThankYou network member, feel free to toss your points my way (8910238559729932).
I am so glad you dont gamble
OK...I'm getting excited now.
Attached image(s)
About to book! Just ran it buy the old man, he took one look at the pictures from previous years, and says simply, "Book it".
If anyone is interested in fishing let me know. I can put together groups of 6-8 and get a price for you. They do morning and afternoon trips that last from 3-7 hours...
Oh, and yes. This pic is of a Lake Tahoe Trout
Attached image(s)
Damn!
Is there a fee for attending? Do we need to register?
The first post does not mention anything?
Thanks,
Jake
Event registration will be coming up. It will be low since we're probably only looking at a couple meals. But registration fees will be the next item we tackle.
Booked'm Danno
Okay just booked for me & my wife. So sorry Mark I won't be splitting your room . She is not the most sociable person. Her hearing isn't so good. Legally deaf without her hearing aids. With them she does okay but she's kind of gotten used to not being in to many conversations. So if you talk to her & please do. Please be aware she doesn't hear well. If she is not looking at you. She may not hear you & isn't ignoring you . She is very excited to come I can't wait myself.
The only debate will be between my LE or my v8 conversion. If I don't have my LE creamsicle finished & sold. Then I will probably drive it down. If I've got it sold I will bring my v8 conversion that I drve at last years
Did I miss the code for expedia for the discount or do you just book by phone? Or can you just book online and get the discount? Inquring minds want to know. Thanks John
Look close when you book online, John, there is a spot where they ask if you have a coupon or promotional code...put 10WINTER in there and make sure they added it before you check out.
So....what are the track fees?
Sweet! The wife gave the thumbs up on attending. Booking my room in a minute. I don't gamble either but I have to put a few bucks on the roulette table "00" baby! Last time I was in Vegas (2 years ago) I did and hit it with 25 bucks (odds are 35:1).
Booked! I'm pretty sure my car won't be complete, but I can ogle and maybe bring some pictures of my progress.
And Mark, I tried to give you the ThankYou points, but it would not let me "associate" that booking with your account...
Count me in! I booked Harveys for 3 nights for a total of $223.10
I hope it doesn't snow because chains wouldn't fit with these tires.
Any clues into the schedule of events yet?
I'm at that distance where I could drive in from Reno... But would rather stay at the hotel for the right nights.
Thursday, bonus day, watch the arrivals (this is some of the best!)
Friday, Saturday.... Which will be activities near the hotel vs. away - like a drive/tour?
I know it's too early to expect a schedule yet, but just wanted to ask and see if there's anything sticking to a potential agenda yet.
Booked a room
Dave
Great! Dave is coming! Rand is coming!
Rand, most likely we will have drives on Friday and Saturday... I have to chat with the boys in the back room to know for sure...
Heck wit it, I just booked all three nights. Party at the lake! Woot!
Heads up - Room availability is likely to be changing... I was unable to book the cheaper room because they were sold out one of the nights. The good news is with the Expedia code I got the "Premium" for the price of the "Classic" direct.
Who else wants to ride the longest zipline in the continental US?! Been wanting to do that... Atop Heavenly, amazing lake views....
http://adventuretravel.about.com/od/treetopaboveadventures/a/HeavenlyZipline.htm
Does anybody know if the rooms are still available?
I went to the Harvey's website and saw that the rooms are listed at 106.75 currently.
We're trying to line up someone to stay with the kids for several days for that weekend. Would really like to attend, and would be bringing my 'new' 914 for the event.
Regards,
Tom
I must really like you guys. I just booked my flight for $340 (ouch). Time to sell some plasma
In to Portland on the 11th, out of Portland on the 18th.
Tom,
You can certainly book through Harvey's website, however if you book through Expedia.com, they are having a sale and it is cheaper...please read the first post for more info.
It looked like Expedia went up on their prices and I could not find where to imput the discount code 10winter. I booked directly through Harvey's website instead and under the play and stay tab on their home page booked Friday ($75) and Saturday ($97) under the 25% off and 2 for 1 improv for a total of $189.21 with taxes.
I am excited for Tahoe!!!
Besides the fishing which no one seems interested in anyway, they have a comedy club in the hotel. We could probably get a group thing going if anyone is interested. Or, we could drink in the parking lot... Anyone want to do that???
Attached image(s)
Unless I can eat it, I dont want to fish for it. I will be following crowds to what ever. Booze is a good thing
Sounds like a little interest in a group table at the comedy club... We can look into that.
There are other things to do on the lake as well Jamie, you and your wife may enjoy one of the excursions. The boat takes you around the lake to see the sights and tells you of the history. It gets you over to the castle everyone sees from the road on the
West side of the lake. When you find out the castle is actually a glorified outdoor patio it is kind of a hoot!
I like comedy. You can go see where they shot Bonanza. Other than drinking and gambling, is there any WCR planned events???
We're still working on the details (we've got three months). There will absolutely be some day drives, possible hot springs, etc, etc, etc. More details soon.
Awesome, Randy. I know things will be taken care of, particularly if you are involved. Hot springs are kick ass, but I wish we had more women folks and less old men for that trip
Asked wife, she says yes as long as she rides shotgun. Check!
Gramma said she'd fly out to babysit the youngun' for the weekend, Check!
Work schedule allows it, Check!
It's not supposed to be this easy. Clearly I'm missing something here...
what's the price for the actual event.
gotta know how much to save for, and figure out exactly I'm getting my car there...
ahh hell with it, I'll probably go no matter what, just eat ramen noodles till then since im a broke college kid
but I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sooooooooo excited
I didn't get around to booking my hotel (6 days ago) till now! Son of a bitch it went up in price!
5/13: $119.00 $89.25 per night
5/14: $139.00 $104.25 per night
5/15: $149.00 $111.75 per night
Taxes & service fees $10.17 per night
Coupon -$30.00
Amount charged for hotel reservation $305.76
Regardless, we are there Thursday afternoon! Now time to get the Teener going or take the Jeep?
Dr. Evil or Jakeodoule, are you guys coming down 97 to 139 to 395 through Susanville?
Glad your going to make it Drew. We are booked Thursday too. Maybe we need to hook up to caravan down. Sounds like Mike & Jake are going through earlier. Anyway be happy to meet up somewhere in route on Thursday. Either way I can't wait
The price hasn't gone up, it appears they have sold out of the classic rooms for Friday night, so the only ones left are the Tower rooms which are more expensive.
I'll keep my eye out for more coupons or better deals...FYI for those out of the area, MontBleu is across the street and very nice. Right now they are about the same price as Harvey's, and you can still use the same coupon!
Jake, I have the hotel booked from Thurs night to Sat night so it would be nice to get there Thurs to use it I am coming out Tues so we can leave Wed if you want. We can split the driving so one day is no issue (I drive like a coked up trucker).
S'what I thought.
Ah yes patience! Thank you Master Yoda.
Went skiing at a couple different places last weekend around Tahoe. Thought I'd share a couple pics of what you can see if you come to WCR.
Attached thumbnail(s)
Ridge just wide enough for the road, steep down both sides to the lake. Awesome drive.
Attached thumbnail(s)
Right after that last shot, you come into these corners. Laguna Seca has nothing on Tahoe's "corkscrew!" This is not far from South Tahoe where our WCR is based.
Attached thumbnail(s)
I'm getting sorta bummed about the class schedule next quarter. Not sure how WCR will work for me, maybe have to bunk with another member here, and maybe take my rsx since I might not have the teener with me (stays at my parents while I'm at school).
If anyone has extra room in their hotel let me know. I'll have a better idea of the logistics soon, but yea.
Thanks,
Ben
I probably will, unless the wife goes crazy and says she wants to come.
I know you've had a long day of battling The Great War Of The DJet.
Time to announce the registration fees for WCR Teeners at Tahoe!
Not quite ready for you to send your money so registration is not open yet, but we wanted you to know what the event itself will cost! So, yes - we know we haven't told you where to send checks or Paypal. Watch for that later, when we open registration!
Individual registration from the opening of registration until TAX DAY - April 15th will be: $50 individual - $30 additional for each family member who will participate in the event. After April 15th, $60 individual and $35 additional for each family member who will participate. After May 1st, registration goes up to $70 individual and $40 additional for each family member who will participate.
This gives you a little incentive to register early.
We define "family member who will participate in the event" as someone you bring that you expect us to feed at included meals and BBQ's and such...
WE TOLD YOU IT WOULD BE CHEAP!
Good price for sure
events planned ???
For $50 I get??????
Lots of
Lots of
Lots of
Lots of
Lots of
Lots of
And hopefully not much ...except maybe from "That Guy"
Opening night meet and greet. At least one, and probably two drives, A show and shine on the ramp, tech sessions with experts are planned and we are working on commitments, we have a BBQ vendor who will have his wares on the ramp throughout the event. One of his meals will be catered, the rest will be out of your pocket (our way of making sure you don't have to eat at high buck restaurants for every meal - unless you want), excursions to Chair lift up - Zip line down, Comedy Club with Louie Anderson, Chartered fishing, Golf (PGA level course across the back of the lot next to the Lake, oh, and gambling .
For your money you get the meet and greet party and a catered meal and some goodies TBA... Bring money if you want to do lots of "other" stuff...
Page 5? Come on guys?
Anyways, the real reason why I bumped this is to ask if anyone (McMark) will be bringing a few things like tools and equipment to check and possibly dial in my 73 D-Jet vacuum system? Of course I will pay, I just want this damn thing running as perfect as possible and to possibly learn how to do it my damn self! I'm better at learning by doing.
It's just a question?
Not a 914 owner (yet) but would love to come to the event. I live just down the hill in Carson City. Please don't chase me off if I show up with my 928 to say hi and check out all of the 914's.

Good camping spots in the area that we could take over
Lake Tahoe is ~4,850 ft. in altitude. In May it will probably be pretty cold, with a good possibility of snow keeping the campgrounds closed. The average temperature for Tahoe in May is a high of 61 and a low of 32.
If it ends up being a productive snow winter, you may need to count on hotel rooms, rather than camping.
Eric
Just to clarify. 4850 is the elevation at the bottom of the lake. Surface elevation is just a little above 6200'. I used to live there and have seen snow every month of the year. Bring extra warm gear if you plan to camp.

Did you have to call to get this rate?
Hey Randy, Where do we sign up for registration? and where do we order our T-shirts from? can't wait this will be fun. John
Added Thrusday night, so I will now be at the WCR Thrursday-Sunday.
Will anyone be there Wednesday night? The wife just asked me this morning if we can leave a day early. I'm all for playing an extra day!
Maybe I can help set up or something? Let me know.
It looks as though I will be there wednesday evening. The wife really wants to leave town as soon as possible. We really need a vacation!
It looks like Ed won't be there this year due to a schedule conflict but...
I am trying real hard to fit this event into my schedule. My wife is on board with it.
We haven't taken a real vacation together in years.
I looked at flights last night and can get a good price into SFO Wednesday or Thursday night, with return flight leaving late Sunday night.
I have a nephew in San Jose with a newborn baby that we would like to visit, maybe Sunday for dinner before heading home.
If we came out Wednesday I would want to visit a winery or two in Napa valley before heading east on Thursday and maybe visit McMark's shop in the morning first if that works for him. On the map it looks very do-able.
Anybody have a spare 914 available to loan us?
Heck yeah!
Chris, I'll have to meet up with you in Napa/Sonoma, or maybe I might go for a night or two....Mark may have convinced me.
Chris...there was no group rate. We had looked into it and they needed a solid number of rooms required and if we didnt fill 90% of those rooms, whoever signed the agreement would be on the hook for rooms. After the fiasco at WCR Mark had to go though, there was no way we were signing anything.
Tahoe has lots of options as to where to stay and several hotels that are within a block of Harveys so we figured it would beter for people to make their own reservations.
The expedia deal I found was more than a month ago and was just a heads up for everything looking to book early. Those deals come up now and again and I will try to keep people updated on any I find.
I understand Brett, and I certainly wouldn't want the same thing to happen as the above mentioned fiasco. I was just venting.
I'm looking around right now and it looks like we can get a room at the Ambassador Motor Lodge for as low as $58 night. The Ambassador appears to be only a couple blocks away, across the state line.
Besides, if Mary wants she can pay for the room at Harvey's. I'm a bit cheaper than that.
FYI- Harrvey's has been running ads on local cable in So Cal for rates comparable to the early ones. Maybe even less....
I warned a month and a half ago that room rates/availability are changing big time. If you haven't booked a room, better get on it. Tahoe is an amazing destination. The longer you wait, the higher the rate. Wait too long and hotels may be sold out.
Went up to Tahoe this past weekend. Unless there is a freak storm, all the snow will be gone, but the beautiful scenery will remain. I'm PSYCHED!!

Schedule details have been a bit thin so far. I know Thursday is a "bonus" with just the meet and greet that evening, but would like to know more about Friday's plan. Is Friday a "full day" so that folks should show up before Friday morning so as not to miss out on something?
Driving time from Flagstaff is 12+ hours and I can probably do it in one day, but it would be helpful to know some additional schedule info so that I can decide and figure out if Linda is going to want to come along.
I told my wife it is a vacation so anytime away from home, kids and the usual crap is good time! We don't have to be there all the time because there are alot of other things to do. Other than the BS'ing, Drinking, BBQing and the drives there is another 14 hours of me and her time! Besides she really doesn't want me around all the time? After a few hours she will tell me to go play with the other kids so it works out great!!! She can use some alone time to do what she wants.
Just got off the phone with Harvey Weidman of Weidman Wheels in Oroville CA. I thought I should let you guys know that Harvey has confirmed that he will be there and will do a Tech Session on Porsche Wheels and 914 Wheels. If you have never heard or spoken to Harvey, you should know, no one knows more about Fuch wheels and Porsche wheels.
Other tech sessions include Andy Schmidt on string alignment, Mark Debernardi on something mysterious and dark, Mike Lesniak on 901 Transmissions, and possibly, Eric Shea on brakes.
Registration and the schedule of events will be announced immenently. Register early!

The first post in this thread has been updated with a schedule of events as well as being cleaned up a little bit. Please take a minute to read through all the information there. I know it's long.
Wasn't yours originally going to be:
SirAndy on "How to screw up point and shoot photography"!
I'm interested in hearing where people are staying other than Harveys, and if anyone has a recommendation either pro or con regarding other hotels in the neighborhood.
My wife and I won't spend any amount of time in the casinos. We're more interested in outdoor activities and sightseeing when not involved with the group. All the online info from expedia, etc. has narrowed it down but I'm still a bit lost as to where we will stay, and I want to have our reservations made by this weekend.
the REAL question is...who's driving the limo?!?
According to the first registrants, MontBleu is popular second place (2 of 7).
Mont Bleu has a pool, not sure about the fitness center...as for internet, I think you're stuck. Most places charge an obscene amount unfortunately.
FWIW, Mont Bleu is my favorite place in Tahoe
The road tour will go through Markleeville assuming monitor pass is open by then. Lovely country for hiking back there!
Registered
Locked and loaded. Giving my front-row tickets to Elvis Costello concert to my non-914 bud (same weekend @ peppermill)
So Brett Korven now has my $80. Does this mean I am in like Flynn? With my treasure girl Beckster?
Got your money Rand..you're in!!
Sweet. Do I get a prize for first paypaler?
Thanks for your work Brett!!
actually Rand you're the 11th paypaler:)...should be a great turn out!
I'm IN....but my sweetie hasn't made up her mind yet (teacher) so I may be solo.....and what's all this crap about hiking in Markleeville...they have fishing and a hot springs....HIKING??..we have CARS.......
Wow. Great response then! Super cool. I was just skiing Tahoe today and took this pic from a killer black run. Sigh, photo can't capture the steepness. AMAZING PLACE. Spectacular scenery for WCR 2010!!!
The grover hot springs in Markleeville are great! Here's what they looked like when Sylvie and I went there a few years back.
Register up! The WCR 2010 "Teeners at Tahoe" is just 55 days away! We have lots of fun planned and our sponsor vendors will be giving away lots of cool drool-factor stuff! Will we be seeing you there?
Here is a teaser pic from one of the roads on the drive! The snow should be gone! If it isn't, obviously the Targa Tahoe Drive will have to evolve a bit

How much are the track fees?
Day 54! Imagine that first morning! Getting up and joining the gang for a drive around the lake! See the beautiful Lake Tahoe sights. Take in that fresh mountain air! Ummm... Register up!!! 33 People so far!

I'll have at least my 911 and maybe my 914/6.....
Day 53 and all is quiet while 914World members plot their path to the WCR 2010 "Teeners at Tahoe" event. Prayers are said for carbs at altitude, DJet and LJet are cursed and praised. Polish and wax is rubbed on and off... Will we see you there?

I Was actually contemplating assembling an emergency transmission repair kit to bring along with some parts and special tools. WAS.
Ship it here
As long as I brought this up, a little data for you guys driving cross country with your 4 cylinders. My car is wired and gauged for CHT readings. When I drive normally in traffic with the Raby kit motor the CHT is usually around 275 F. That is until you go to fifth gear. In fifth gear the temperature rises by 50 F. or so. Now with a stockish 2 liter the CHT is about 50 F. higher than the Raby kit motor. So just driving around you sit at about 300 F. Go to 5th gear at highway speed and your temperature rises to 350 F. These temperatures are at a fairly cool ambient of 70 F. and are compensated, so they are actual temperatures.
The take home message is if you are on the highway in high ambient temperatures and in fifth, be aware of your oil levels and try to spend some time in forth gear once in a while. I suspect you are ok having your temperatures rise by 50 F. but absolutely do not forget to downshift when you go up a grade.
You guys with stock exhaust will have higher CHT. Fan speed seems to have the greatest impact on CHT, but don't let your oil levels drop!
There's a temp thread started by Jake somewhere here.
Speaking of hot temps... for those of you coming from the east and are headed to South Lake Tahoe via Hwy 50 (through Carson City), be advised that the HWY is steep, long and has fast speed limits. The last time I took a 914 up that hill I had to down shift and hold her around 30 mph to keep from over heating. I was monitoring both head and oil temps. Those of you that just have oil temp gauges are missing out on a world of information too. The head temps spiked well before the oil temp gauge showed trouble. Just something to keep in mind. That's the only road I've had trouble on up there and ymmv.
Okay I just registered! Back off Brett
Ah the power of FB...getting slackers off their asses for 4 years
Only 52 days left until the WCR 2010 "Teeners at Tahoe" event! Make your plans early so you don't get left out. So far 36 people are going to be there. Actually over 40 if you count people who we know will be there but haven't registered...
Attached image(s)
51 days to WCR 2010 "Teeners at Tahoe"
Time to plan your route, find out who in your area is going so you can caravan.
If all of the beauty at Lake Tahoe was not enough reason to bring a digital camera - we have decided that the drive around the lake on Friday morning will also be a competitive photo rally. You need a partner and you will be given a list of things to get a picture of. No slamming on the brakes or going back is allowed. Besides, if you did slam on the brakes you would have a teener stuffed up your tailpipe! If you do that and manage to get all the pictures and are judged to have taken the best pictures - by virtue of your photo rally performance and getting into an accident with two Teeners you could win two awards! The Photo Rally and That Guy!
Some of the things you need a picture of will be geographic and specific. Others will be random and quite possibly not come up. For instance, and this will be one of the rally photos you are assigned to get - A Porsche coming the other way. Imagine the Porsche owners surprise to see 40 Teeners coming the other direction and they're all taking pictures of him!
Attached image(s)
Hey, I think I recognize the cars in that photo lineup. Tell me how I do:
KevinE, Curt/Greenie, Chris/effutuo101 (before sold to oldschool), and Jim.
I'm registered and ready to roll! This should be fun, how many people are signed up at this point?
33 people as of RIGHT NOW!
Not even close Mark! that was the last post....we're up to 41 and counting:)
And the goal is...100 ?
1,000,000
50 DAYS TO GO!!!
The 50th top reason to go to WCR2010 "Teeners at Tahoe" is getting to see at least 2 former "That Guy" winners in one place at the same time! Rumor has it that Eric Shea will be there and Jim Tabor is already registered. Tabor is defending "That Guy" champion! Eric Shea hasn't shown the form that won him the honors in years. Will Eric show some signs of contention? Will someone else step up to challenge the champion? You have to register for WCR2010 "Teeners at Tahoe" to find out!!!
Attached image(s)
AND, I was training hard last night ( my Friday)....only 32 more working days @ 3 per week.....I am sooooo ready to retire......

Been 5 years since my last one.. Going to try and make it this year.
Not sure if I'll be bringing the girlfriend (vacation) or my dad (car trip)
Cool Andyrew! Sign up sign up do it do it! I haven't seen your dad post on here in forever. It would be great if he came too! Although I bet your girlfriend is prettier. Haha.
Ok all,
GF said she wants to go, so were goin!
What all hotels are people going to that arnt the main hotel but within walking distance? Trying to be as cheap as reasonably possible.
Mont Bleu
Lakeside Inn is just down the road <3 minutes, not the greatest hotel in the world but I didn't mind it. Cheaper than most too.
FYI everyone...expedia is having another sale right now, for 48 hours most hotels in the area are 30-40% off. Horizon, which is next door to Harveys is $63/night! Act Fast!
Just three dozen days to get that car ready! 36 to go...
The event is shaping up nicely with everything falling into place. If you are on the fence about going - making your decision in the next few days saves you money. Thursday night we meet and mingle in the parking lot in the sky. Friday morning, we drive around Lake Tahoe and conduct the photo rally. So be sure to bring a digital camera and plan for a passenger to shoot the pics. Most and best pics wins.
Attached image(s)
Booked at the Horizon. $221 Total for 3 nights.
Registration paid.
Going in the Audi.
Anyone going Ziplining? GF wants to go (I'll be watching..)
I may go ziplining in Tahoe. We're going on a zipline canopy tour while in Mexico in a few weeks, so I'll decide when we get back.
So were trying to event plan and it looks like most of them are either summer or winter. Is there going to be snow on the ground (not the roads) for winter events or should we be looking at summer events??
Just 35 days to go!!!
As I have said before it will be cool to cold at night and warm to sort of hot during the day. We will see snow in the shadowed areas on the ground and from plows but flying snow is a rarity and wouldn't last long. Bring a jacket, you will need it at night on the ramp.
Randy, I am interested in the ziplining thing too
Just 34 Days Till WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe!
Don't waste your weekend! Get that car ready! The roads around Tahoe are some of the best 914 roads you will ever see. More curves than a Playboy Mansion party! See you there!
Attached image(s)
Just 33 Days Left! And only 4 before the price goes up!
Get yourself registered. Time to start checking the nuts and bolts to make sure that they are tight and right. See you at WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe!

I just checked with Harvey's (I know, a little late) but the room rates for Friday are now $99 and for Saturday $179!! Is there no code that we have for a group rate? Is there another hotel nearby that anyone would recommend?
Dan
Horizon is next to it and was running a sale last week ($63 average / night). I went through Hotels.com, but Expedia had the same price.
32 Days to WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe!
Get your registration and hotel reservation in! As you can see, the price goes up! That is the nature of the hotel business. As they get closer to full capacity they raise the price. Let's get going. Our registration price goes up Friday too!
Attached image(s)
Is there a master list of who's going, paid etc? I need some stuff brought down from Oregon......
Just 31 Days To Go!
Come on people! We're so short we can dangle our feet off a dime here! Only two days left at the early-bird price and the hotels will only get more expensive from here so let's get those reservations and registrations made!

Anyone going to be near the Reno airport on Thursday?
Dude, you have to go, either way. It would be nice to actually meet you. For me anyway. I tend to be a bit....clingy
John and I will be in a 914 so all that is left is my uncomfortable lap
Danke... we'll see how this plays out.
Send Yopu... everything will be fine.
I'll be in Tahoe on Wednesday Afternoon. I could drive to Reno to get you. It's only an Hour away! Let me know, fivefourone28188twotwo.
Eric, it's looking more and more like my sweetie won't be coming....if that is the case, I'll pick you up as I'm coming up on Thurs. am.......if you don't "hook up" for a threesome......
Only 29 Days to Go and the price goes up at midnight tonight!!!

Ssssssssssssssssexy
Only 28 Days To Go!!!
You snoozed and lost out on the lower price but the good news is the cast of characters who are registered is an amazing list of 914 experts... Al and Harvey Weidman will be there and speak on wheels and just general history of Porsche in the 70's. Mike Lesniak (Dr. Evil) will speak on transmissions and if you pay him $5000.00 you can probably get your prostate checked. Mikey914 will be there and I bet he can tell us some interesting stuff about what might be on the horizon at 914Rubber.Com. The price went up but look at who you get to meet and greet! Register up and come to WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe!

The days keep peeling off that calendar! 23 Days to go!!!
You got it! In only a little over three weeks the depravity begins. We have lots of fun planned. Thursday we meet and greet in the parking lot and tip a beer while welcoming old friends and friends we don't know yet. Friday we drive around the lake with an optional photo rally. Friday afternoon we get some expert Porsche and 914 specific instruction from Harvey Weidman on wheels, Mike Lesniak on 901 gearboxes , Eric Shea on brakes , Mark DeBernardi on rust repair and welding . Saturday we are off on the big drive and you will see sights you will never forget... Really! Saturday evening we will have a BBQ and by Sunday morning we should all be ready to head back to civilization right???

Hooked-up and ready to go...I know a bit premature.
Attached image(s)
Shouldn't the one with the v8 do the towing
I agree with Justin... You have 18 days to swap the mounts around. LOL
I toyed with the idea of bringing both, but the red one just isn't WCR worthy yet...although it's coming along nicely. It's biggest trip so far is just around town--jusn't isn't on the priority list right now in my life.
Only 18 days to go!...shameless bump for Rob
Hmmm. I might be able to come to this even this year
Heck yes only 18 days . I'm far from ready but I've got time. 2 weekends left I have the whole week of WCR off to finish . Now I've just go tto pull the battery tray that the dip$hit I had paint install. Allready pulled the bad channel for the seal off. Buddy is coming to weld the new one on thursday night. I've got to clean up that area. Reinstall the battery tray & support. Then repaint . Oh well I did get my NOS SS HE forom Bruce last friday
17 Days and the Party's on!
All of the final preparations are under way. I think we may just have an event here!!! Everybody ready? Let's hear it!

It's snowing and downright nasty here at the lake right now! Should melt fast at lake level. Alpine Meadows will be open Fri-Sunday for the last days of the season. Bring your gear, it has been very good riding.
I'm almost done with my new bell crank linkage and I already like it 100 fold over the hex bar and I haven't even started it yet. I can tell adjustments will be much easier.
Now to fab up a throttle cable bracket, do some tuning and head to the lake!
A Sweet 16 Days To Go!
WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe is just around the corner... The cars are almost ready, the Lake has been ready for thousands of years. If you have never seen it, you will remember it for a lifetime. Water so clean you would drink it. Mountains so high you swear they reach heaven. Oh and the rest of 914World with alcohol
Attached image(s)
I just received confirmation that Sunset Porsche will donate 5 Gift certificates to the event. I buy all my parts from them so I know the service is good.
Excellent Paul
You going to be able to make it? I can't hit the craps tables alone after all!
Just 15! That's how many days till WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe!
We are turning into the home stretch here. All the plans are made. The cars are tuned and ready... Right??? Mine is A few last minute peeps are registering 'cause they don't want to miss the fun! See you there....

In my best Nascar post-race interview voice: Well Eric, we will not be tapping that keg until Eric Shea and Jim Tabor show up 'cause none of this would be possible without the love and support of the PMB Performance team. We want to thank the Yopu Store for providing that keg and our pit crew for standing by ready to tap that keg...
If anyone sees me driving around the Bay Area, I'm not driving aggressively, I'm testing my new oil cooler.
ATTENTION!! Eric Shea will be landing in Reno on Thursday, the 13th at 10:14 pm .....so, what if we had a caravan of 914's to escort us back from the airport since their won't be any SERIOUS drinking until we get there anyway....
AM
OH GOD NO!!! I just checked the flight... IT IS PM.
I screwed up. I'll see if I can change that tomorrow.
Salmon boy drinks?
Yes, and while purchasing tickets online.
AM/PM is a minimarket. Eric bought tickets to Guam.
All is well, the ticket is changed and I'm picking him up at 11:45AM on Thursday....we'll both be in "salmon" OMG!
The "Dynamic Duo" will open up a can of whoop-ass on you all.
Honestly... yesterday was the "Blondest" day I've had in a long time.
1st Time - Burned through the reservation so quickly that I didn't realize the "Cookie Jar" kept a RNO -> SLC route in there... I booked the first trip backward.
2nd Time - Well, you know this story. I swear I triple checked everything (except for that little AM/PM part)
I'll tell you this... Orbitz ROCKS. They canceled my flight "both" times without a fuss. I went to Brazil last month on Travelocity and they suck. You call their customer support and it's a bunch of ya-hoo's in India that leave you on hold and don't give a $hit. Had to write to the BBB in TX to get the $100 back that they owed me.
Just 14 Shopping Days till WCR 2010 Teeners at Tahoe!
So it doesn't take a genius to figure out where this is going... Jimtab and Shea at Tahoe for a three night appearance? We should sell tickets for this. These guys are a two man show... Don't miss it! WCR 2010 Teeners at Tahoe! Oh Ya!
You never know what these two will get into. When Shea was a kid, Tabor convinced him to... Well, just check out the picture.
Attached image(s)
Just so you know... I'm not falling for that one again. I'm wearing gloves next time! He told me I needed an "Electric Knife" to carve my turkey.
Announcer: Well folks, it looks like Jim stuck the landing this year. No face plant for 2010! Let's hear it for Jim Tabor with an assist from his teammate Eric Shea!!! (crowd goes wild)

I think everyone is in for a great time at Tahoe and is it is well worth the trip to this event! Several years ago we attended a Lotus Regional Meet and had a ball. I must get my 914 finished this year and attend on of these events.
When we lived in Nor-Cal full time we enjoyed Tahoe many times over a forty plus years and the weather should be cool with snow around you. The gambling area has changed somewhat but it should still be great. Tahoe is one of the areas I miss in California and will be going through there in June.
I think the event has been planned very well and should give everyone a great time.
Wish we could attend this year but the "retirement commitments" always rear up and disrupt any long term planning. In other words, we are on extended travel in the U.S. for the balance of the year, hope to live fulltime in Nor-Cal next year, and be traveling some overseas.
Everyone have a great time!
Steve N Sandy Hurt
Do I dare say that unlucky number? 13 to go!
So we all understand, there will be no official drinking event at WCR 2010 Teeners at Tahoe... But when professionals come to town you just have to give up the love. Have you ever noticed how when you drink, sometimes people start to look alike?

Weather High today in So Lake Tahoe 58, Low 34 Brrrrrr.....

(Pssssssssst... Jim. He's picking on us!)
Oh my gosh! Just a dozen days to go! You heard it: 12
All the final details are dropping into place. Thursday night in the lot with the gang will have PMB Performance providing and tapping a keg. Friday morning we will have the Loop the Lake Drive and if you have a passenger be sure to bring a camera because we have the Photo Rally where you will be given a list of 30 things to photograph + Best Photo contest. Saturday morning we have the Targa Tahoe Drive which will be longer and perhaps spirited as it follows some of the roads traversed by the Markleville Death Ride which is an annual bicycle ride held up here in Tahoe each year. Mixed in we have a People's Choice Car Show and seminars on Porsche Wheels with Harvey and Al Weidman, Transmissions with Mike Lesniak, Rust Repair Welding with Mark Debernardi, String Alignment with Andy Schmidt, and last but not least, Brakes with Eric Shea.
If you haven't registered it isn't too late! Make your plans and join us at WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe.

Just 8. But 8 is enough!
The days are winding down and we are ready! If you haven't made up your mind it is time to do it. WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe is just 8 days away. Pack your bags and get ready to have some fun...
Attached image(s)
I finished the GT lid.....I have the GT muff ready, just waiting on the install of the motor. THAT is outta my hands.
The back problem required that I have a 3rd party do that part. Weeelllll, it's down to the last week or more. The ride is 9 hours away, so my close to WCR residency is blowing up in my face.
It also needs a windshield. $350 plus installation down there, $240 installed up here.
IT DOES have a tow hitch on the front, so I can flat tow it home...
Seven days and a wake up!
Not much time until the WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe event. Register up if you haven't. We want to see your car but we want to see you more.
Attached image(s)
Just six! Then wake up and go to WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe!
Time to polish them up.. Change that oil one more time. Get them final touches all wrapped up. See you next week at WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe!

Today's view of Lake Tahoe...Lots of snow due to late season snows....Enjoy!
Neat pics! Can't wait to see it in person. Looks like you're right seat in a small single or twin. What 'cha flying in? I've got my PPSEL, so always curious.
Due to popular demand, runningwolf
will again attend this annual event
of teeners & adolescents, will the
owners of these teeners never grow
up. At least there will be one adult
at this years event. I'm bringing my
mom!!!!! :driving
For those of you who are wondering about the weather - the average high during WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe is expected to be 64 degrees. The average low is something you will want to pay attention to if you are a ramp rat and want to spend the late evenings drinking and chatting... The average low will be just north of freezing at 38 degrees. Now since we plan on being on top of the ramp which is a large mass of concrete that will have absorbed heat all day, that might not be as big a problem as it sounds. Bottom line, bring a jacket and some gloves for the late night non-event of drinking and bullshitting on the ramp...
There is a 10% chance of precipitation on Saturday and you will probably be leaving Tahoe on Sunday under cloudy sky.
Half of the work day is gone!! Today is my last day of work till the 18th. I plan on leaving Southern Oregon on Wednesday 12th no later than 8am (the wife tells me I want to leave on this day and time). Should arrive in Tahoe around 2 pm just in time for check in! See you all on Thursday!
Hell, I'll be in Reno picking up my roomie by 11:30....hell we'll have a real head start now.....
With you two I dont think you can call it "spooning" since you are more shaped like a ball than a spoon
So I won't be the only one there on Wednesday afternoon?
I officially can't wait. I've got WCR on the brain.
Is it Thursday yet?
looks cool but nice, wish i was going to be there!
In case you haven't noticed WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe is just 5 days and a wake up away!!!
Plans are coming together, plans are falling apart! Your planning committee is scrambling like crazy! This is going to be fun!
Attached image(s)
Just 4 days to go!
This is just too exciting to believe! WCR2010 is right around the corner... More than 70 people and lots to do and see... See ya'll Thursday at WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe!!!
Attached image(s)
I was looking at the Havey's web page and took a few of the virtual tours, can you explain what the ramp is and where its located.
Anyone ever stay at Harveys? If you have a choice when you check-in, what block of rooms would be more desirable for the WCR?
What about car trailers & tow vehicles....any idea where they need to go or are they stored near our cars?
After point F on the caravan, you can go directly on route 50 or take the longer twisties route as planned. Is anyone going to try to keep-up with the carvan teeners that is towing on the "twisty" backside route?
Here's the best I can do. We'll be meeting at the top of the parking structure, but trucks/trailers will probably not be allowed up there, so you'll be parking behind the structure.
Attached image(s)
I had a great time in Tahoe this weekend. I must say however I was very much disappointed at the dismal attendance at this years WCR. It seemed like I was the only 914 in attendance. I can only hope that the planners of next years event do a much better job of organizing.
So, the top of the ramp refers to the outdoor parking structure ?
fixe4d...
double post....
OK, I'm an idiot. I knew WCR was the 3rd weekend of the month yet the calendar in my head only saw four weekends in May. I knew I had other things the last and next to last weekends so haven't paid too close attention to all things WCR. But in talking to Computers4Kids yesterday I suddenly realized there was an extra full weekend in May and I had to mentally rearrange my internal calendar. The clouds parted and I realized that I was free for the WCR weekend!
It's too late to plan vacation from work, but I am now registered and will be arriving Saturday morning. Pending unforseen circumstances we will be driving the 914. Hopefully I haven't used up my quota of troublefree miles since in the last month or so we have taken the car to Sacramento (Conedodger's coffee & donut Porsche reunion), Sonoma (McMark's Original Customs), Las Vegas (visit the kids) and Visalia (Computers4Kids).
Looking forward to meeting everyone else!
Damn, I hate that animation.
Glad to hear it's working out for you Steve.
This one has some cones for you auto-X guys
Just 3 days then wake up and go. WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe is right around the corner!
This is going to be great! Mountain air, good friends, good cars, gambling, a wee bit of a nip to keep the cold away (honest Yopu!)... See you at WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe in just a couple days!
Oh, and Dave - there is no smoking allowed on the California side of Tahoe
Attached image(s)
I got some sad news this morning. One of the best friends of Harvey Weidman has passed away. These two have been friends for decades and the man was as important to the Southern California car scene in its infancy as Harvey is to the Porsche world. Harvey will be unable to attend as he is going to be going to the funeral in Southern California on Friday. In his place, his brother Al who started the wheel business will be talking on Porsche wheels and the history and culture of Porsche wheels. The lot will be filled with examples of Al and Harvey's work. My condolences to Harvey on the loss of his friend.
Not going after all.... Haven't gotten GTEENER diagnosed & fixed and I need to move but new rental destination is still unknown. DDAY is June 30th. I have a ton of crap to purge before moving anywhere. I need every available weekend from now until then for domestic activities
How many are registered?
The tahoe police & ladies organization
against red lite districts needs to
know....
You can find the current list of registered participants http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=104900
It is currently dumping snow up here at an unexpected rate. Just drove home past at least 4 cars and trucks in the ditch. Not to worry, it will melt by late Wednesday and provide nice clean roadways for all!
Thats what I'm hoping for Merrill...according to the news, we're supposed to be in mid 80's down here by Wednesday!
No turning back now! I am leaving in 5hrs 50min
Worst case scenario, just make sure you are packing chains. Shouldn't need to use them, but, weird-ass conditions you may need to pack them.
Which is the best way for towing, 50 or 207?
We're down to just 2 days! WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe is right around the corner...
So once again, I checked the forecast this morning and I find that light snow is falling in South Lake Tahoe even as I type this. But that is no problem! The rest of our stay is forecast as mid-60 degree highs and high-30's for lows. We will see standing snow and the roads will likely have some melt water on them. Bring a jacket and some gloves and you will be very comfortable.

I just took this picture of the Sacramento Valley at 8:25AM. Shot from 30 miles east of Sacramento. The storm has moved on and not a cloud in the sky. The mountains will shortly follow. No worries, it should be clear but cool by tomorrow.
No worries. Forecast is good now.
With temps. close to freezing at night, how many will be participating in the time honored tradition of standing out in the parking lot shooting the $hit, drinking beer, shooting TAKILLYA etc.?
86 and sunny in Sacramento on Thursday. Weather here in Sac moves East. Should be fine up there. Cool but not uncomfortable... Unless you pass out in the grass. Let's drink on the buddy system.
Just got the time off approved (better late than never). Now where is that registration info at at again........ oh yeah page 1.
Sounds like I'll be following you Jamie. You got room on that trailor for 2 cars just in case of snow?
Looking outside right now and it is still overcast and chilly. The meltdown started this morning and is still dripping and plows are out cleaning up the mess. At one point yesterday, I had to stop 3 times because I couldn't see past the windshield! I took my son to swim lessons in Truckee and the 80 W bound was a parking lot for ill prepared vehicles.
58F and slight overcast in Carson City....1/2 hour drive to the west.
I can't come but this is the best traffic resource for driving to Tahoe http://video.dot.ca.gov
I use it when preparing to go up on ski trips
Roads look clear in Truckee
Check out http://video.dot.ca.gov/asx/d3-ski-run-50.asx ..its right down the street from where we will be. Looking good!
Totally ready! This morning I made one good distributor out of two bad ones stuck it in and tuned it by ear... Got it very close and drove the 80 miles to McMark's shop. Randy and Mark were chillin' and we finished making up the awards, and tuned my car to within an inch of perfect. On the drive home she had a CHT 50 degrees cooler than any I have previously noted. The engine had more power and wanted to go like the wind!
I hope Jim and Mary drive it up with the group drive because it would be a shame to waste the trip up on a trailer!
Oh, and Randy took a very cool pic of my car WITHOUT GARBAGE CANS in the background!!!
A word of warning for flatlanders who aren't used to the white stuff, there is the "black" stuff.....beware of black ice, especially on overpasses and bridges and in the shade in early morning.....bad stuff, it's a surprise skid pad....you'll like it until it hits something. See you there, I'm driving up at 0:30 to pick up Shea...I'll be watching for the black stuff for sure. See everyone there, prepare to get your "Scotch" on.....
Ok looks like all the cool people are going up Thursday...
I plan to be at highway 50 and hazel exit around 4-5pm on Friday, does anyone want to meet there and caravan up?
1 day and then wake up and go!!! WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe starts tomorrow!!!
Why am I still reminding you? We have gotten registrations yesterday! People are still signing up. We have over 80 people signed up for this event. This is going to be a blast!!! See you tomorrow at WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe.

Old picture... get on the ball Sime! Do you need a card for the keg?
That's funny, I was just in Markleeville 2 weeks ago for another car event.
Shush! It's probably a big secret but I will let you guys in on it. Eric Shea is celebrating his birthday with us up at WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe.
I can't wait!!!!
Well I finally figured out my plans. and since i am bringing the t-shirts, you all will be glad to see me! See you Saturdy! don't leave for eht drive without my ass in somones seat!!!!!
CRAPS.... who's going to play Friday night? I love the game and willing to teach those who are interested on Friday afternoon. I can bring a roll out Craps board with me if people want to know how to play the game....A tech session?
Will the craps be looser if I bring a stool softener? Oy, it's the day before and I'm already unable to withhold. Oh wait. Good thing I'm regular.
Sorry Paul. Actually, I would be interested in learning.
TOMORROW!! It's only a day away.
This is the last official WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe Cheerleader message! From here on in, you will have to watch the live update thread.
Nothin' left to it but to get up and do it!!! See you tomorrow at the official - unofficial start of WCR2010 Teeners at Tahoe! YEEHAA!!!!
Watch for live updates from along the way and from the event! Wish you were here? We know you do!!!
Alright! Go ahead Audrina! Drop the flag and let's get this party started!!!
