914World.com _ 914World Garage _ did the '74 914 come with hood badge?

Posted by: Kraftwerk Dec 17 2009, 09:58 AM

I notice some cars have 'em and some don't so do they get added in restoration or lost in restoration?

Sorry for the totally newbie question but its a start...

Posted by: sendjonathanmail Dec 17 2009, 09:59 AM

Ah yes the birthday 914! It also has a flap in the hood , for quick fluid changes maybe?

The flap is to access the gas tank fill.

What he meant to say was that no production 914 came with the hood badge from the factory ... shades.gif

Prototype cars don't count.

Yes...and if you have that 914 in the picture, I would assume you're on the run, wanted by the German authorities and wouldn't be posting in an open forum:)

YES! It's been far too long since we had the 'hood badges' question. mueba.gif

Interesting to note, in that photograph above, Ferrys' 914-8 has a welded roof that is NOT like a 916 roof- no rain gutters! Yes, I know it has a sunroof.

"Introducing our new entry-level model. It is designed to rust out precisely at the moment the owner has become addicted to Porsche automobiles, leaving them with no choice but to buy a real Porsche to replace it."

"Can you turbo one of these?"

You understand that this will beat everything else that is currently street legal. Oh, and don't forget, you will actually be able to lift (a little) in a corner without spinning the car.

Let's sell it to the Americans: they'll spend tons of money on them forever! Clever idea with the hood badge.

Notice how the side window tops are actually curved to match the damn glass dry.gif How nice! Anyone who has messed with the door/window adjustment can appreciate how AWESOME it would be to have a curved seal. Maybe I will get Mikey914 on this.

The car in the background is a 914-6 with 5 lug mag. Mahle's also. Let's just say no production cars were imported with badges, however, at our dealership we put badges on every car. Mine even has an orange stripe badge.

"Err, umm, sure. We just need to find a screwdriver real quick. This ONE model has a anti-theft feature - you start it by jumping the starter."

"Just this one? Why don't you do that to all of them?"

"Never thought of that before sir...."

Love that front opening for the oil cooler. Doesn't match the lines of the car at all.

I think it does. The opening is oval...so are the front turn signals.
