914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Selling the GTI

Posted by: djm914-6 Mar 21 2004, 07:22 PM

Any idea on how to price my GTI? This is a '95 with 105k on the chassis, 45k on motor, 5k on trans, new AC and more new parts than I care to think about. It does have some exterior flaws, but the interior is nice. Looking online, how would you go about getting an asking price?

I'd really like to get enough to pay for a nice 914 or similarly cool toy, but I want to be realistic too. Thoughts and comments welcome.

Oh, and while the car is in the shop, I'm forced to drive the 914. BCinSC halped me install my heat again. This is great!! Thanks again Bruce.

I've priced um a little bit, and I would say 10K is being fair in my opinion, but with that much new crap, it's hard to say. That could higher or lower the price depending on the buyer.

$10k for a 9 year old GTi with 105k miles on it??

BTW...the ones I'm seeing on craigslist in the bay area are about $4-5k for what you have. you can get '99-'00's for $10k with less miles.

Vortex - You think? 4-5 would be great! I just always thought they caught high dollar. I always thought that only the 2.0 would go that cheapely.

I've been watching these on craigslist too and the range seems to be $3000 for a car with a faded hood and roof to $6500 for a low mileage, 80K mile, always garaged mint condition car.

I actually posted my VR6 on http://vwvortex.com and found a buyer at retail, but it was a very low-mileage, perfect car. Either way, you should get somewhere between trade-in and retail.

what went wrong with the engine at 60k? my 85' has nearly 250k on the engine.
