914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Rear sway bar question?

Posted by: wallys914 Jan 6 2010, 12:07 AM

I got the bushings into the drop links but then when I attempted to put them on the sway bar they won't fit.

Any ideas or suggestions?

You're doing it right. In the drop-links first, onto the bar and ball stud next. It evidently helps to drill a small hole through the back side of the bushing to let the air out, but you'll still probably use a clamp to squeeze the drop-link onto the bar or ball-stud anyway.

I've done it without drilling the hole, but it's a pain. If I tried drilling the holes, I would probably goop a little RTV on to cover the holes once I was done, just to discourage dirt from entering.

Huge C-Clamp and tiny hole on the backside of the bushing, lots-o-grease and they'll go on fairly easy ...
