914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Cloudy windshield

Posted by: itsa914 Mar 22 2004, 02:00 PM

I might have a buyer for my windshield. It is great
shape but it has white cloudy / haze along the bottom about 1inch high. I tried some of the basic
window cleaners but nothing works. Any tips on
how to clear this up? Also whats the best way to
remove / dissolve the black adhesive that is on
the glass?

You will probably find that the haze is a separation of the two layers of glass that sandwich the plastic center layer. Safety glass is a three layer sandwich. When the layers separate it will always appear cloudy. Nothing can fix that. Sorry. sad.gif

The glass is seperating from the poly.

Is there a way to stop it? If not I assume that this
seperation is a slow process since this is from a 74
it has only gone a little less than a inch up from the
bottom.

Is this then still a good windshield that can be
reused. I don't want to sell anything that is unsafe.

PS I will post a pic tonight.

If you wear glasses you may want to clean them unless you wear contacts in which case you should change to a new pair. zorro.gif rolling.gif nuke.gif smoke.gif tunez.gif bootyshake.gif clown.gif lol3.gif stones.gif

Its like terminal cancer, could be a slow or faster decay, I would not want it in my car though. Although mine got scratched pretty bad when I got caught in the rain last summer with a bad wiper blade. Took alot of it out though with pumis and a cloth wheel attached to a drill.
