914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Parts donations for the 914world Limo Project!

Posted by: SirAndy Feb 7 2010, 08:50 PM

Some of you have expressed interest in helping with the http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=102807 by donating parts so here's your chance to help us out!
smilie_pokal.gif

The Limo project is split into two phases, Phase one is to get her mechanically in good working order and roadworthy. Phase two is to make her look pretty.

Right now we're still lacking some of the basics to make this a running car, so if you have any of the parts listed below collecting dust in your garage, feel free to send them our way. biggrin.gif

All contributors will be officially acknowledged and will also receive steep discounts on future limo rentals! driving.gif

I've got a fuel tank for the cause. How soon do you need it? Maybe if there's someone heading to the Bay Area from the NW they could transport.

Cool project. smilie_pokal.gif

Ok, I'm traveling to Half Moon Bay soon. I would say within 30-45 days to pick up Sandy's new 914. I have two seats, maybe a back pad, center tray with pad and maybe both doors if they turn out to be ok rust wise. I can deliver these. I had already planned on visiting Marks shop on my way home. I'll check the parts tomorrow and post photos.

It is likely that you will find parts locally before I get out there though. So, lets see how it goes.

I'll gladly rebuild the gear box if you get it to me before I go away wink.gif

Posted by: Carrera916 Feb 8 2010, 12:29 AM

Been watching this project for a while....

I have a tired 1.7L sitting at my shop floor and will ask the owner if he wants to toss it over to me after installing the 2.0L in his car.... I should know probably at the end of this month...

Will that be okay to wait till then? Or you need it ASAP?

This thread was all the way back on pg 5. confused24.gif Are you finished with the build yet?

Posted by: rick 918-S Feb 16 2010, 09:13 PM

Andy, Let us know how your doing with parts collection. I leave for Half Moon Bay March 9th arriving around the 10-11th If you haven't located good Cal parts I can drag out my MN stuff then.

Heeltoe914 has doors So I will leave mine here. I have a set of seats that need reupholstry and good center pad and ok (I think.. ) back pad.

Oh! BTW: Paul (lotus_65) is half owner of these parts. So these are coming from both of us.

You need a punch list and a crew every weekend. You need a forman to point out tasks and watch over the work as it prorgesses. Remember, there are 24 hours in a day and 5 guys can get a weeks worth of work done in a day.

I've got some metric brake lines to donate. 10mm nuts, line, couplings, all new stuff.

Posted by: Krieger914 Mar 5 2010, 07:12 PM

I have the center pad, but no tray. Do you need any interior pieces like the black parts on iside of targa or windshield frame? I have aluminum threshold plates. I will be passing through on thursday.

Posted by: Krieger914 Mar 5 2010, 07:27 PM

And when you say seat rails do you mean the part that bolts to the floor, or the part that bolts to the underside of the seat or both? I have some parts that bolt to the underside of the seat, with good handles.

Posted by: MoveQik Mar 5 2010, 09:26 PM

ah-hem.....

Mark or Andy, see post 37 that directs you to post 35. poke.gif

Posted by: RobW Mar 6 2010, 12:09 PM

I have the windshield, a +1 wiring harness (got burnt), the door striker plates, and other related parts...

I just can't make it to Sonoma anytime soon....

Posted by: SirAndy Mar 6 2010, 09:31 PM

Rob, i can probably swing by next weekend and pick up some stuff ... bye1.gif

I'll be back at McMark's shop in Sonoma tomorrow, Sunday 03/04.

If anyone wants to come by and turn some wrenches ... biggrin.gif

PS: Big thanks to Chris for helping out today! beerchug.gif

You're welcome. beerchug.gif
I got a lot of practice doing tar removal grunt work, an overdue project I need to do on my 914. If'n you get geared up to patch little holes in the floorpan, I will come by and help more for practice and perhaps we can weld in a few new spots under my passenger seat. Wishful thinking, I know!

After seeing it, my head is swimming with Limo ideas! I'll see what other parts I can dig up to donate. I have some old Alpine 6x9 speakers in boxes from a previous truck....

Speakers eh? idea.gif

We haven't even thought about accessories yet.

A sound system would be nice ... And AC. And heat. And electric windows.

If you give me an updates parts needed leis I can probably supply most of the small parts. I have tones of replated latches and hardware. Also have the replated striker plates. Also need a shipping address. You probably posted it but I am to lazy to look through the thread to find it. I claim that as a senior citizen right.

As far as little parts and interior stuff goes, half of the limo was a completely stripped shell, so we need at least one of each of everything.

We got a few boxes with parts already, but we really haven't done a complete inventory yet.

So anything small you can spare is most welcome!

If you have either one of those collecting dust in your garage and you'd like to help out getting the 914world Limo on the road, please let me or McMark know.
