I've got a set of 2.0 fuchs to put on my stock fendered 75. Checking out tirerack, I can get 205/50's or 205/60 in Kumho's. Street car only.

Any fender issues with using the 60's?

No sir, I have 205/60 all around my 74 w/ 2.0 fuchs.. so do other people..

You will be much happier with the engine revs using 60s since you'll be mostly on the street

Maybe im all messed up but arent 50`s wider then 60`s

205 tire height
50 tire width
15 rime size

why would 60 affect the revs and why would you put on a skinner tire then you have too??

205 = width, 50 = sidewall height. 60 is closer to stock diameter, hence lower revs at same speed than with the 50s.

Actually, to be more specific- 205=mm width (tire manufacturers measure at different spots so they are not all the same width. 50 or 60 is the aspect ratio. 50% the width tall, 60% the width tall, etc. So an sr16515 (which should be a 70 series) has a sidewall that is theoretically 115.5 mm tall. 205/50 should be 102.5, 205/55 should be 112.75, 205/60 should be 123.

Taller tires = numerically lower gearing = no power around town, good RPM on the freeway.

I have 205/60's. I like the ride and the look. I think the taller tire fits the vintage of the car. However, I feel like I'm lugging the poor thing if I use 5th gear going 60mph. Since I almost never go any faster on a normal commute, I'm now sort of wishing I had the 50's so I would have a better chance of using 5th. 50's are a pretty bumpy ride imo.

this is my second 914 and i have 205/60 on this one and the lasdt one. if you are driving 120+ miles daily, its not an option. I drive my car as hard as i can untill it breaks, then i take too long to fix it, and go again

i also love the look of the 60's

I have heard 50's are bumpy, never had a problem with 5th gear on 60's but in Los Angeles it is either 1st/2nd gear on the freway or 80 mph just to keep up..

I liked 205 / 60 s with a 1/4 inch spacer. Filled out nice! You need longer bolts for the rear though...

I've had 205 70's, 60's & 50's, and I prefer the 60's. I drive a lot of highway miles, and they're better for me on the highway. I currently have 70's on the car, and can't wait to get back to 60's.

Put the 205 60 Kuhmo's on and she looks great! Thanks for the tips guys! I'm a trip to the DMV away from having her on the road after a 17 year slumber.

Real easy formula to figure tire diameter is A*.B*2*.0394+C
A=width in mm
B=profile ex, 60 or 50
C=rim size

example 215*.6*2*.0394+15
use this formula in a google search bar and it gives overall diameter

btw-this is what I'm running and have had good luck. Had to roll the rear fenders up but that was the only problem.
