Who's going? Is it worth the trip?

This is a greatswap meet. Last year was the first time it was held at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim. Lots of classic Porsches, swap meet stuff, and vendors inside. Get there early; the line to get in wound around 3 or 4 blocks.

Edit: THE SHOW WILL GO ON IF IT RAINS--------

That's what used to be the old Dunkel Brothers swap meet. I've been many times in the past and traveled 1000 miles to do it. If you're already in SoCal I highly recommend it. I might make a bonsai run out there myself. I'm on the hunt for a new job anyway and I have vacation to burn up or lose.

Isn't this real close to Route66? idea.gif

Check with Bruce BDStone, here on this site. He just brought a rechromed fr bumper no bumperettes to my house today and it was very very nice ( I am picky choosy too) , great price, I have a 74 w/ bumperettes so I got another from him but the one your want is still available and he has a space reserved at the same above swap meet, let him know you would like to see it and he will bring it I am sure..

I had originally planned to hit the literature convention on Saturday and the swap meet on Sunday. But it all depends on when my new Eric Shea real brake calipers show up on my doorstep. biggrin.gif

I need to install the new rear calipers and the Porterfield pads on all four calipers before I make to drive to LAX or to the swapmeet.

Hey Eric...
You'll love those Porterfield pads they're agressive yet not noisy...at least that's my experience with mine on the v8 914.

One interesting vendor last year was selling retro radios. Some were modernized to work with XM, amp, etc. He would be inside with the Vendors

Probably "Woody's"....they sell online and eBay. Ya don't have to go to swap for him. I put one in the 58 356 I did a couple of years ago.....

Sounds like fun. To bad I don't have the LE finished. Be a perfect place to sell it. Hey if you have so much free time Mark confused24.gif . You should drive over to Route 66. I will be there & would be happy to ride in your car with you. As opposed to the damn PT cruise I am renting in Vegas to drive over to it dry.gif

Attention swap meeters! I would sincerely appreciate any one of you who would look for a 3 liter engine with a KNOWN history for me. Complete would be nice. I'm sure a financial token of my appreciation would magically appear in the hands of the tipster who points me towards a purchase ................

Just noticed this .,..... see you all there!

This is a great meet. One of the best in SoCal. I think MikeD and I are driving down tomorrow. We're praying for the rain to pass!

Posted by: computers4kids Mar 6 2010, 11:01 AM

Do you think its worth dragging 3 complete running FI motors down (1.7, 1.8s)? Sell in neighborhood of 250 each.

lol-2.gif av-943.gif .... bring your 'brellas boyz -- tomorrow is supposed to be the hardest, & OC is to be heavier rain than up north, but less than San Diego!

They've posted it will go rain or shine!

Hmmm. It definitely looks like rain and I have not been feeling too well lately either. Will have to play it by ear in the morning but I may sit this one out.

Please take pics if you go and see some cool stuff!

Chris - you should be okay cuz all/most of the vendors are inside the building(s) - mainly just the cars are displayed outside with big stuff IIRC.

So it depends on what you're going for there.

Just don't breathe on the rest of us if you're sick! biggrin.gif

Posted by: jim_hoyland Mar 6 2010, 02:31 PM

This is one show that rain won't stop ! smile.gif Plenty of indoor area where the vendors are set up and the food service is in a covered area IIRC

Last time it rained, the show was at Autokennel in Costa Mesa. Everyone was trying to stay dry and not shopping--except Leamon and me. So, I come across 4 NOS CV joints for something like $40 a piece.-- original boxes to boot. Lesson: the rain could be your friend. biggrin.gif

Went ahead and got a motel, Holiday Inn, 3 miles from the swapmeet....hopefully will get a good nights rest. Just went to a big swapmeet down in our area today.

The past few years, it has been set to happen after the indoor show at the LAX Hilton. Same weekend. Indoor show on Sat. and the all Porsche show on Sun.
