914World.com _ 914World Garage _ How can you tell?

Are all the distibutors the same for the 2.0 engine? How do you identify them 1.7 vs. 1.8 vs. 2.0 if all the 2.0s are the same?

Same thing for the points and condensor cap and rotor?

Thanks...

The 2.0 distributors are not completely identical, but they are interchangeable. They have slightly different advance and retard curves, but apart from that are the same. They're also interchangeable with the different 1.7 distributors, which also have slightly different advance and retard curves.

The 1.8s are quite different, as they do not have the FI trigger points.

AFAIK, the caps and rotors are the same for all the stock distributors, with the exception that some rotors have the centrifugal rev-limiter and some don't.
