914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Clutch slips under load, clean or replace?

Posted by: ChrisNPDrider Feb 27 2010, 09:23 PM

Pics are worth a thousand words, so take a look below at what I am trying to deal with.
My clutch slips a bit under load, and I see some blue oil in the bellhousing. Not a lot, but other clutch photos on here show a dry, dusty bellhousing.

I would appreciate advice on the wear to my clutch, PP, flywheel. I am not sure if I need to buy anything or just clean it all and go...and replace some transaxle seal(s). More on that later....diner is almost ready beerchug.gif

The disk and PP are only 2 years old, less than 5 k miles and 6-8 AX races.

Cleaning won't help, the surface looks glazed.

Fix the leak(s), have the flywheel and pressure plate resurfaced and get a new clutch disk.

Don't forget to check the pivot ball for leaks as well ...

I can help you replace the seals if you wanna lug the transmission up to Sonoma. I've got all the tools that make it easy.
