914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Rear Coilover Travel?

Posted by: plymouth37 May 6 2010, 06:27 PM

I am seriously thinking about building a tubular rear cage/frame for my car and am looking around for some universal coilovers but don't really know how much travel I need. I know my last set up didn't have much with 200# springs but I don't have any kind of measurement. The car is going to weigh around 1700# and will be totally slammed, ride comfort takes a back seat to performance as well, what do you guys think, how much travel should I need for the rear coilovers?

HAHA, put those on my Rambler, fun stuff. I think coilovers would be better for the corners though.

Do a search here and club.
There was a pretty serious technical thread about the rear suspension travel, the swing arm angle, the arc....lots of pics and diagrams.

Racer Chris knows...he was one of the main participants in the thread.
