914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Bilstein dust cover

Posted by: blitZ May 27 2010, 03:05 PM

I'm driving home from work today and hear this clanking sound from the driver's front. I check it out at home and apparently the dust cover on my Bilstein strut has broken.

Anyone have a spare laying around? How do these things break anyway?

sure it is just not loose? that happens,.... but break is weird? ...dent or bend maybe?.. where is it broken?

I replaced mine with rubber boots from a Jetta, so I've got two (off a 1976 911 Turbo) that you can have for $15 plus shipping from 95618. I'm assuming they'll fit Bilsteins from a 914. The price will cover the beer I'll drink while packing it/them up... PM me if you're interested.

All the covers are the same. Bilstein covers are only welded in 4 spots, the Boges(stock) are welded in 6 or 8 places.

I'd have to return it to the place of purchase and go through the red tape. I'd just like to find another cover.
