Things are coming along fairly well. 2.0 Mild re-build. Euro pistons/cylinders, balanced, lightened
flywheel, arp bolts throughout, tin powder coated, crank polished, nos cam/lifters (very old stock). I hope
everything turns out ok there. Waiting on new injectors. I am rebuilding my fi harness as well. Does
anyone know where I can get terminals for it? I have the skills and access to everything else. I asked
bowlsby but he was not interested in selling a set. I have no desire to compete with him I just want to
finish my car. I also nee the thingy that goes in the top of the breather. Anybody got one? Thanks

Dylan,

do you need the PCV for the oil filler ?? (thingy is tough to understand)

Jeff fought long and hard to source the pieces he uses to make us new injection harnesses.

We are probably selling at least one of his kits a month right now and will start selling more soon.

Looks like you need to run the PVC hose off the oil filler.

Check you hoses against this pic.

dylan, motor looks fantastic, are you going for concours?

what was done to the blower housing? Blasted, clear coat, paint?

Sorry thingy is vague. I require the fitting on the breather that allows me to connect a line to it. As per the pic Bleyseng posted. He or someone posted it for me in another thread and it has been a great help.
Is it a pcv valve? If so would it be affordable at a vw shop? I fully appreciate Jeff's efforts on the
harnesses. That's why I went to him first. I can't afford his time. I am not saying his time is not worth the
cost just that I have to stop spending somewhere. A Canadian dollar and shipping make it expensive for
me. As I said I am not the average diy when it comes to wiring I just need terminals. I am not going for
concourse just clean. Everything was plastic blasted. As for cost it's hard to get a figure on. I bought the
motor for $200.00 sold the heads as I had some that were already rebuilt. Bought p/c from
pelican($475.00). Lightened the flywheel myself. I cannot remember what balancing cost me ($100.00??)
or the cost of a crank polish($50.00) . The tin was done with all my trim $300.00. rebuilt my starter and
alternator ($50.00) brushes, slip ring and bearings. Arp studs $163.00 Arp rod bolts$99.00 oil pump
$100.00 pertronix $65.00. wires cap rotor $100.00. K&N air filter $65.00. Seal kit etc. TOO MUCH
MONEY! I have managed to spread it out over a few years.

Yup, that's the PCV valve. I don't know if it was used on any VWs or not. I think Brad Anders may have a blurb on it on his amazing website, http://members.rennlist.com/pbanders .

The terminals are probably available through AMP, but good luck finding out exactly what to order to get them. I got some reasonable facimiles from a Beck-Arnley dealer, they were listed in the B-A catalog as something like "Bosch Fuel Injection Connectors and Terminals". I think. Your FLAPS, if they are a B-A distributor, may be able to hunt those up for you.

But dang, you really ought to just pony up the $$ and get a harness from Jeff. It's not that awful much, and I'm sure that the customs and such could be dealt with "unofficially".

Is there a howto or article on rebuilding your own 914 alternator anywhere?
Are parts available?

I need to do this. I have 3 alts all in unknown shape, one must be rebuildable.

AFAIK, Bowlsby will also repair/refurbish harnesses so you don't necessarily have to buy an all new one.

The haynes manual is not too bad for this. heed any precautions. The trick for you would be machining/replacing the slip rings and brushes. I bought a new slip sing for $6.00 brushes were about the same. I worked in an aircraft component shop at the time so I had access to everything I needed. Part of the reason for wanting to rebuild my own harness is because I can. Like rebuilding your engine, you can pay someone or you can do it yourself. I will follow up on those leads Thanks Dave.

You're engine looks great. Where are all your hoses and wires? Mine looks like an octopus family took shelter on top of it.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Without this forum it would have taken much longer. Motivation and
expertise are sometimes hard to come by.I haven't put the injectors on it yet. Waiting for them in the mail.
Looks cleaner without. Maybe I should switch to carbs
Does anyone know where I can get a pcv valve/thingy?

Porsche sells the PVC new. Do you have the correct oil breather filler? I see you have a later air cleaner so if the breather just has of large diameter tube you will need to find a early one that takes the PCV valve. I think I have one if you need it.

This is what I have. Will I need something in addition to the pcv valve? I have 022 115 542 as a part number for it. Can someone verify this for me as well? Thanks again for all the help and support. It's scary how much you guys know about these cars.

Your breather doesn't have provisions for a PCV valve. It must be from a 76 car.
