914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Brake pads--outers worn more than inners (a lot)

Posted by: kpfoten Jun 6 2010, 08:55 PM

Popped my front brake pads out tonight--the outers are worn thin, the inners are still pretty thick. Caliper piston problem? Is this something I can adjust?

The rears seem to have worn evenly.

Nervous because I don't want to put the Porterfields I ordered on (and new rotors) unless I get this resolved...

Thanks!

I had this same problem on my rears, I took off the calipers, cleaned them up, applied some caliper grease and put them back on. But I haven't driven enough miles to see any wear, so my advice is somewhat useless.

Darn--I figured the inners might be stuck.I haven't driven the car much (I just got it running, bled the brakes before driving, etc) and it didn't seem to have as much stopping power as I thought it would... Sounds like a caliper rebuild is in order...
