914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 914-6 Engine Tin

Posted by: ber914 Apr 8 2004, 12:45 AM

Hi

I have just joined the 914 world by purchasing a 914-6 conversion.
There is no engine tin on the motor to seal up the engine bay and I was wondering if anybody could suggest a supplier of preferably fibreglass engine "tin".
The rubber gaskets around the engine compartment that seal the tin to the engine compartment are also missing and am told NLA. Does anyone have any
suggestions for me - maybe VW Beetle ?

Hello and Welcome.. clap56.gif clap56.gif

Call up or send an email to http://www.gprparts.com/ They typically stock the fiberglass and will have a rubber replacement for you. The rubber they sell is from a Beetle and doesnt fit exactly on the curved portion above the rear of the engine, but the other pieces slide right in.

I would recommend against using the fiberglass.
Steel bends (BTDT), FG breaks.
