George is offering up a group buy on his reproduction Euro Tail lenses. Prices are as follows:
100 sets sold $130.00
200 sets sold $90.00
What this poll is designed to do is give us a somewhat accurate count of sets that will be sold. This is my first time to set up a poll so if my choices don't let you add what you want feel free to post. Hopefully we can reach the 200 mark and get this incredible price of $90.00 a set. I doubt you will ever see them that cheap again. If I'm not mistaken these same lenses normally sell for a little over 200.00 a set so even at $130.00 it is still an absolute bargin.
George came through for us on the flare group buy and we came through for him. Let's see if we can repeat on these lenses and inspire George and AA to continue to offer us chances at quality parts at bargin prices.

Aren't the wires on the right one longer cuz the harness runs down the left side of the trunk?
That could be why.

Word to the wise. Buy these, but take the darned Euro lenses off BEFORE you track the car.
It's a good thing that a 180 skipping over the gravel and into the tire wall won't cost as much when it cracks a US version lens on the LEFT side. 
It's a far-gooder thing that it teaches one the wisdom of getting back on the throttle sooner in a really fast turn.
... not that it ever happened to me.

us and euro were made the same way as if we had made them differently the cost would have been double. US had no texture euro did.

This is a better deal than buying them individually! If you are wanting two rights you might as well go for two full sets!

you all konw you all need to to remove teh extra lite bulb that usa cars lenses have else you run with teh yellow tail light on. euro cars did not have this bulb instaled
euro = 3 bulbs
usa = 4 bulbs

As far as I know it is not. From what I know we were not given a dead line on when we had to have the full count.

I think we are virtually there, if we want to start the group buy and gather the money I will tell them to go ahead and make the lenses. Of course we have the tooling paid for from the initial run so that is why we can now sell them to the club (just like the group flare buy!!!!)

Seems it would be easy to pop twice as many rights as lefts and the problem would be solved since George already has the demographics of the situation.

The other 44 are only agreeing to buy if we reach the 200 units sold price of $90.00. I can start collecting up the money if we can get 100 sold. I'm all for group buys but in this case it might be too much work to receive 80-90 payments just to fall short of the required amount. Maybe George can tweek his requirements and instead of a fixed number of orders, he just accept whatever quantity is received after a set amount of time - say 2 or 3 months. Just a thought. Mark

Okay, I have been slacking on this for awhile now as I was busy planning MUSR11. However, that is done and over with and it is time to get back to the lenses at hand. Fortunately I have some good news and, well, some more good news. We still have not reached that 100 set mark so here is the deal. I have been authorized to also offer the U.S. version of these lenses as well, for the same remarkablely low price of 130.00 plus 10.40 shipping in the lower 48. If you would like either the Euro or the US version and have not already purchased, please do so.

I get to help everybody that wants a set of lenses at a good price aquire them. I will actually probably end up going in the hole with some of the shortages on paypal but we live and learn. I doubt I will do any more of these group buys though.

I have been informed that they are ready to ship. Just waiting on me to get all the info and money to George. Lot of people did not include screen name, some no shipping info etc... The latest list you will see a d out beside the name, that means all info has been added to the spread sheet that I am preparing for George. I am trying to make sure there are no mistakes and all info provided in order to hopefully make all shipping go smoothly. Gets tedious scrolling through the thread trying to match names with screen names. I hope to be able to have this completed tomorrow night.

I understand completely and the lenses are ready to ship. I just need to make sure everything is in perfect order so when AA receives the info shipping can go as smooth as possible with little to no mistakes. Some people seem to forget that the original deal was 100 sets sold to get this price, yet George was kind enough to do it even with us about 40% shy of that mark. He did NOT have to do that yet he will get bashed anyways. I'm just waiting for someone to start bashing on me then it will get VERY interesting.
All that said, I will have it all wrapped up this weekend and have already pulled the money from my paypal account to send to George. I still have a few checks that were made to me and not AA as instructed, that I need to cash tomorrow and add to the funds. I appreciate everyone's patience and ask that you hang in there just a few more days. This should be well worth the wait.

I personally wasn't aware that Mark sold the lenses but hey, I am a newbie. As for getting them faster they have been ready to ship but it is hard to ship without proper information. Some of it is good, some of it not so good, but I feel it is my job to keep everyone informed to the best of my ability whether the news is good or bad. At least you can count on the cold hard truth from me. Now where to start?
All of the lenses are done and George has all the money and shipping info. All U.S. and clear Italians will be out by next week. Now for a tad bit of bad news but you all need to be informed. The Euros are done also but unfortunately at the moment we are waiting on them to clear customs. I would love to say this will happen in a few days but, based on my past experiences dealing with customs I would venture to guess January, however I could be wrong. I will keep you all updated with any developements as soon as possible as you all have a right to know. I just want you all to know where it stands at the moment and feel no need to blow smoke up you ass. Sometimes the truth sucks but at least you know what to expect.
Now, with all that being said, I have been authorized to open the availability back for any who may still want to purchase any of the 3 versions. However, the total amount of availability is restricted to the original goal number, once that is met the group buy will be closed again.
Once I get further updates or information, I will pass it along to you promptly. My apologies for the delay on the euro version but Customs pretty much does what they want and I have no control over them.

Why are the Italian lenses clear? Is it because they drive crazy in Italy and it would not matter what color lens you have, they don't look at them...

Just to make sure you are aware, the euro lenses are waiting to clear customs and from what I read when I got in, it is looking like sometime in February before they will ship. If you still want them then paypal 145.00 to donziii1@earthlink.net. This covers the lenses, shipping and paypal fees I incur. Be sure to include Name, shipping address, email,screen name and phone number is optional.

The USA lenses look very nice ...exactly like my old Hellas only very deep red, no cracks or crazing, clear, and they look like the go with the rest of the car now.

I the quality of the Euro lenses is as good as the USA versions, it should be worth the wait for you Euro folks.
They even came with new rubber gaskets

Thanks Roy, I appreciate that but I don't mind the pressure, I just wish I had a more direct contact position with the supplier to AA so that I could talk to them myself and apply the necessary pressure. As promised in one of my last post, I did contact George for another update and based on what he has told me, I believe he may be being fed a line of crap himself, but I have no way of knowing this for sure. The following is a cut from an email sent to George from said supplier on a group of lenses that he is trying to get expedited in for this group buy " Thanks for your confirmation.We had despatched today the lenses.We will update you with tracking number of the same." To me this sounds as if he is not being told the "whole truth" himself therefpre it makes it very difficult to tell me something to pass on to you guys. I am going to try and talk to George again and see if there is any way I can possibly be shoved deeper into this process so that I may have the ability to contact the shipper myself and put some good ol "redneck" pressure on them myself and see if it is possible to get better answers on this matter. It is becoming a challenge to me to make this happen and get the product to everyone who was kind enough to jump in on this venture. I know you are tired of hearing me say it but I would like to once again thank you ALL for you patience on this matter. I am going to continue to do my best to keep you all informed. I will post anything I find out just as soon as I hear something.

From your last update, it seems as if the supplier may have not even sent the lenses yet, or only had recently?!
In an earlier update, you had said George told you he was working on getting them through customs and they were stuck there... I was under the impression that George knew exactly where the lenses were, they were just being held up in customs, now it seems that wasn't true?

I even have a scheduled date of delivery but I'm not going to put it out here on the chance if they don't arrive that day you will all just say we lied again. Shoe, No body thinks you are a liar. I don't think the delay itself is the problem. The real problem has been the lack of reliable intel. Shipped, not shipped, shipped, not shipped, customs delays, shipped, etc...
If George would have said " they have not shipped and I do not have an expected ship date yet", I think that would have gone a long way. Unfortunatly, you did not get accurate updates and you passed on the less than accurate information.
I do not hold you resonsible for the delay.

I'm a bit confused...
From your last update, it seems as if the supplier may have not even sent the lenses yet, or only had recently?!
In an earlier update, you had said George told you he was working on getting them through customs and they were stuck there... I was under the impression that George knew exactly where the lenses were, they were just being held up in customs, now it seems that wasn't true?
Okay, now that I am home and don't have to type from a cell phone I will do my best to clear up your confusion. Yes, you were told these were held up in customs and they were. Why today you think they weren't shipped yet, because they weren't. Yes, that is confusing so let me explain it for you.
The original run and bulk shipment of these lenses were shipped across the ocean. Being held up in customs and taking WAY longer than expected, George, in an effert to expedite delivery to you guys, negotiated to have a segment of the second run of lenses shipped out air freight to get them here quicker for you guys. All the rest will still be traveling by freighter. He didn't have to do this but after I let him know several folks were not pleased due to the long delay, he decided to do this on enough lenses to cover the group buy and a fex extras. Sadly he was told they were shipped earlier than they were and passed this on to me. Following up on it, it was discovered they were not shipped when said. However, as I said in my previous post, I have posession of the FedEx shipping number and the lenses for the group buy ARE IN TRANSIT according to the tracking number. I have the scheduled date of arrival and if it changes for ANY reason, I will update everyone.
I hope this clears up any questions and makes you feel better, if it doesn't, I am sorry. I will say this, schedule arrival date is very soon, much sooner than I expected. I believe in one of George's last post, he said it would be February and according to the info on the tracking number, it will be the earlier part so keep your fingers crossed and THANK YOU again for you continued patience in this matter.

I bought the repro Euro Lenses from AA last March or April at $225/set. Then this group buy came along and I felt like for buying them at retail. Guess I shouldn't bitch, since I got them relatively quickly and they're on my car.
I will say that they look very good. I had to ship one back to AA for a replacement because it was missing a mounting post.

Just another meaningless update for all who are interested. The lenses arrived here in Memphis at the FedEx facility at 2:12 a.m. this morning. They should be in Atlanta sometime tonight and out for delivery to AA Monday morning. Shipping on the lenses should start going out Monday or Tuesday if all goes well. Once again I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding in this matter. Also, this means you have until probably Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning to make any last minute purchases at the group buy price of 130.00 plus 10.50 shipping in the US and about 5.00 for my paypal fees.

Got mine yesterday. Amazingly, I got what I ordered... not like the AA steel flare set, which included a "unique" driver side rear that I had to cut off, bitch about for TOO LONG before he sent me replacement, and then weld on. I counted at least 50 boxes in that picture George posted and I'm 46 on the list.
So it looks like the BS continues for some.

Got mine the other day and opened them up tonite. They look beautiful. I am a little concerned about the passenger side lens though as two mounting studs look as though they are leaning in towards each other and the driver side has them parallel. Just speculating at this point, will try to fit them tomorrow.
Is it possible to get a replacement lens if it doesn't fit?

Pardon me shoe, but I think your over-reacting somewhat. I have never stated here or anywhere that my car was ready for registration or the delay in recieving these items was holding up the progress of same.
I did state however that they weren't a novelty AND WERE REQUIRED BY LAW to get the car rego'd.
Furthermore, you or George have never offered me a refund and in fact, ignored my request for one. Perhaps if you hadn't, I would have "stayed the fuck off your thread" as you so eloquently put it.
As far as me contacting Brad or anyone at AA, why should that be a problem for you? If I choose to post the information given to me by Brad here why should that get you so pissed. Last time I checked this was a forum. The clearly wrong updates over the last 6 months and general lack of any concrete information concerned me. I'm entitled to enquire as to what was going on and to post those concerns here, after all I paid the entry price.
I'm not going to bother stooping to the same purile, offensive language or threats of physical retribution as you use, that would be too easy.
I will say that it's pretty obvious that you have become an apologist for George, his dubious business practices and abyssmal customer service despite your assertions to the contrary. Have a nice day.

I believe there have been a couple others with issues also. George will replace them with no problem, just contact them. I guess I need to try mine one too.

Much better. Put all new LED bulbs in but I didn't spend the big bucks on the 40+ bulbs and just got the 19's. Works and lights up quickly like LED's do but does not fill the lens.

yupp, that's pretty clear - you use a LED type that only emittes light in one direction
much better when using this type:
a friend already uses this one and it fills the lenses just the same than standard bulbs

The pair I received fit like 
There is a 1/4" gap on one and a 1/16" to 1/8" gap on the other. In both cases, the rubber o-ring gasket doesn't even touch the bezel on the wrap-around end.

I purchased some AA repro Euro lenses new/used from a forum member last year and my drivers side doesn't fit well either. Mine has a 3/16 gap where the lense wraps around the side. Because I didn't buy from AA I'm not expecting a replacement. But can the lense be heated and bent a little more to fit tighter to the body/lense housing ?

Yes the gaps are present. I was going to wait for a hot day and tighten the out side screw slowly and see if it starts to conform.

Put all new LED bulbs in but I didn't spend the big bucks on the 40+ bulbs and just got the 19's. Works and lights up quickly like LED's do but does not fill the lens.

yupp, that's pretty clear - you use a LED type that only emittes light in one direction
much better when using this type:
a friend already uses this one and it fills the lenses just the same than standard bulbs
I will also use these LEDs on my six

I had the same problem for 5 min, till i walked around the front and looked back. I noticed exactly what you are pointing out. All i did was remove the nuts, tuck the outside edge in first tight and smooth. (sorta like installing the lense at a 30 degree angle) and then while holding the outside edge into position... i slowly pressed the lense flush and attached the plastic nuts. It was the same for both sides.
They fit perfect after i did this procedure on both sides.
Try it.

After you did that, how did the reverse lens fit? If I get the leading edge tucked in, the clear lens is way proud of the seal!

Not sure what you mean, but mine fit perfect. I will try and post a pic when i get home. Mabey try to remove the seal completley and give it a try. Just to see if it fits??
mabey yours is glued wrong as George said. But I think you can get it

If you want to haul down to Springfield, you can try on mine.
I already have a set of AA Repro Euro lenses on there. Bought them before the group buy. I noticed the gap also - worse on the driver's side - but in any case, not terrible. I just dealt with it by tightening the nuts more than I otherwise would have, while applying pressure on the outside of the lens. There's still a gap there but it's pretty minimal.
(Did the same thing with the inboard nut -- tightened while pressing from the outside - to create a decent seal for the reverse light end.)

Maybe setting in the sun after you force the lense to fit will work but my bet is they will get stress cracks over time where they are being forced to fit the curve. It took some fg parts two years to get stress cracks after being forced too far to fit in my past experience. I didn't want to but I guess I'd better try mine also.

Those of you who jumped in at the last minute still have a little bit of a wait. George had enough lenses flown in for the original orders and the rest were sent the old fashioned way. I know you have been waiting a few weeks but the original buyers waited several months. I talked to George last week but was not given a definite date yet. I will keep you posted as I get more info. If you choose not to wait and prefer a refund just let me know and I will send you your money.

I was very careful but my passenger side cracked. I guess I forced it too quick. It cracked where the orange meets the red, and one of the nut towers broke. Am I out of luck?

I received my first set months ago put them on and what a terrible fit.
Contacted George a month ago and sent them back and within a few days had a replacement set. They fit better but nowhere near what the original fit was.
Have others had this same experience?
