Here is mine a 75 that I just got together a year ago last March. Last April I had to tear the engine back down because the 3 of the flywheel bolts loosened up and had to have the crankshaft end and flywheel resurfaced. I'll be up and running in late August or early September. Boy I sure do miss it.

Seeing all these nice black 914's reminds me of why they charged extra for the black paint (same as metallics), because it's sooooo hard to lay down a good shiny black!!

This is how I do it - find the pic, get the addy for the pic itself & copy it at "view image" (right click on pic in thread), then click on the "Insert Image" with the tree at the top of reply & paste the addy there & click OK & "Viola"!

Those are Revolutions - IMO the best looking 4-lug wheel ever for a 914 and they are no longer available. When a set comes on the classifieds, they are snapped up quick

BTW these are 914-6 GT rear calipers restored by Eric at PMB. They are absolutely beautiful.

Here is my car, it needs some work but it is all there. I am hoping to get it on the road for spring (2011 )

I think this #502 is SOB Racing's (Saywer Or Brisco ) replacement for #501 in the pic below - which is now my body parts donor shell. If so, a 71 chassis with a 2L build by Lew at Der Buggy in Garden Grove or thereabouts.

Barry - is this your & Mike's new racer in action?

PS - I confirmed with Mike that it's him in there with a DE right seater, so that's there new NARA racer with the running gear from the red 74 2L below. I last saw it in progress last year/summer, so nice to see it ship-shape & lookin' goooood!

Yeah - it does - looks like the same flares, but I thought his front deck lid was the same Dark Metallic Grey finish as the rest of the body!!??

What happened to him, haven't seen him on here for awhile?

Heck, at this rate with so far 3-4 "almost black" 914s - 3 of which are a dark metallic grey, I think that my last 1980 paint job qualifies as "almost black" too!




I prefer to think of it as "pavement camouflage" with a little metallic sex appeal, to help me "hide" from the forces that be - back in those days when she was still running as my DD!

Paul is too busy enjoying his early retirement to notice this thread I expect but here is one of what I consider to be the ultimate 914 and it is Black... Featured in Excellence over 11 or 12 issues now as Paul Sayegh took us through building it, this car has a 3.6 liter motor and 915 differential. It has been re-geared so that Paul can go to 50+ mph in first gear! It screams, it handles, it is breathtakingly beautiful to behold.

.... maybe the polished Fuchs 2L's, then you won't have to screw around with a 5 lug conversion.

Personally, I'm not a fan of 5-lug Fuchs on 914-6's anyway, as I prefer the 5-lug Mahles, which were designed specifically for the 914-6 - but that's all personal taste.

TC - IIRC I read that in either Long's or Paternie's 914 book, but then it could've been wrong there about being designed for the 914-6, or else they could've offered them as an option on 911's from 70 MY on, after bringing them out on 914-6's in 70 MY. I'm not sure either way.

But IMHO they look a lot better on the 914 below with it's squarish lines, than on the 911 above, & I think that the 5-spoke Fuchs looks best on the 911/912/930 line-up because it fit their curvy body lines better. Just my tastes & IMHO.

I bought this one 1-18-11. First time I've seen this thread. Hey Ed, it's got your FG front spoiler on it. It came with 2 tops. I like the funky-ness of the red top but it is faded so I usually use the black one. This is a pic of the day I got her home and washed. It's a little different now but not much.

I just saw this thread and wondered how I'd missed it. Then checked the date it started. Then it made sense.

I'd just left Le Mans and was heading for the Nurburgring in my RS America.

I should probably know this but can you tell me what horns / lights you have on the car. I was looking at Camp 914 and cosidering the Pilot Kit they have but it does not look like it was on their site anymore. I hope I am wrong but either way can you confirm what you have on yours.
