914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Axles for Subaru Conversion

Posted by: Corkus Jul 28 2010, 05:19 PM

Currently have:

2000 Subaru Legacy donor car
EJ25 165 hp/165 foot-lbs torque engine
Subaru axles
914 Hubs
4 lug wheels
914 CV Joints
Bremar Kit installed

Questions:

Am I ok with the 4 lug wheels and 914 hubs? Are they strong enough for this drivetrain assuming I don't modify it for more power? I had Riveria wheels on my 914 in the 70's and kind of want them on this car if they are strong enough.

I am expecting to take those long Subaru axles to a machine shop and have the outboard ends machined to accept 914 CV's/hubs. Am I right? And where do I get this kind of machine work done? Any suggestions?

Thanks all.

I'm having mine sent to Dutchman Motorsports. Using everything you're suggesting.

Had Dutchman do the work for me also. I used 911 axles and had them cut for the subaru inter CV. The 911 axles are far bigger diameter than the subaru axles.
I have also found a shop in the Atlanta area that can do the work at about half the price

what is the cost for something like this?

Think I'm paying $125 for the machine work to both axles.

I assume by both axles as in suby axles or have you switched to 911 axles?
