914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Recommendation on timing light types, help..

Posted by: detoxcowboy Jul 31 2010, 08:38 PM

74 2.0 Stock w/ all the timing marks ect..

What type of timming light is reccomended for the above 914. I have a dwell meter/engineanalyzer that apparently does rpm and would like to get a quality timing light without buying/paying for features I will not need or use..

Inductive, Self Powered, Dual Beam, RPM, Advance ect?

Do I need advance if I have timing marks or is advance even more precise..

What are you using ect..

I have bummed my neighbors usually but am moving and need to get mine own..

and recently ditched the electronic ignition for points..

I had a mac digittal one. When it worked it was cool. When it workedm I would just get a craftsman with advance knob. Pretty plain unit but works every time.

You will love every Snap On tool you buy, more money but they are the Porsche equivalent in tools.
