So I have some very minor surface rear trunk rust to get rid of. I started on it last night with a wire wheel, and have most of it gone. Under the tailights in spots, no holes or anthing serious though boldblue.gif , My question is I am grinding off the puffy sealer stuff to expose the whole seam running the width of the trunk, to make sure I get everthing. Is it ok to leave it without sealer there or once it's ground down and just prep for paint, is it better to seal it with something if so what. I'm just doing the most prep work I can to save some dough. Sorry I don't have pic's yet. Ferg.

The guy you really need to talk to about this is Joe Yoder.

He stripped and prepped his trunks, and completely repainted them. They look like fine china. I was in awe.

He hangs out on the 914 Rennlist. I'll ask him if he'll come over and describe the process he used.

Hey Ferg! Are you going to bring that car over Saturday so we can all get a look at it? Dying to see it in person.

biggrin.gif Yes, I can't wait. I have only driven it twice since I've been back. Ferg.
