914World.com _ 914World Garage _ G&R ALL 914 RUSTY PARTS SWAP MEET & ANIMAL FLESH ROASTING FEST

Posted by: SLITS Sep 24 2010, 10:36 AM

This is the official announcement of the reincarnation of the Premier Event of the Year, The bi-annual G&R ALL 914 RUSTY PARTS SWAP MEET AND ANIMAL FLESH ROASTING FESTIVAL. The date shall be October 24th of this year (yes, it’s Sunday and we do offer services by the Right Reverend Mr. Meier of the First Celestial Polygamy Church & Roadhouse).

We are sorry that Chambers’ Motorsports decided to have one on the same date, but we were first, so go fish. With the demise of Dunkels’, Used to be Dunkels’, LA Euro Show and the GAF, you will still have a chance to throw money away needlessly.

The address is 2727 Kansas Ave., Riverside, CA., 92507. Same place it has always been, so don’t ask me to type directions.

For the 20th time, we offer the opportunity to spread your unwanted rusty junk in our parking lot and try to convince someone else that this NLA crap is worth spending your Obama Stimulus on. If you didn’t receive an Obama Stimulus, then don’t bother showing up as we are all about Capitalism (for those of you in Corona, that means making money, dinero, sheckles, etc).

The gate will be open at approximately 6:30 AM.

Following are the fees associated with this momentous event:

1.) Gate Entry ………. FREE (unless you drive an assdragger or are a member of the Gold Chain, Whine and Cheese crowd or dragging a trailer that rips up our gate track).
2.) Parking ………….. FREE (all the nails and foreign objects your tires pickup are FREE too .. fixing a flat is very costly at Slits Asshole Garage.
3.) Swap Spaces …….. FREE, but you have to clean up your own mess. Roll Offs are available for those priceless parts that didn’t sell. Pick up your own trash as we provide receptacles for same for FREE.
4.) Lies and Insults …. FREE, but if you complain we will charge you or remove you from the property.
5.) The Feast ………... $5.00 donation per mouth is requested. If not paid, we will hunt you down and beat you senseless (which if you showed up to this event you probably left your brains at home anyway).
6.) Personal Facilities.. FREE, but if you clog the toilet, we charge for use of the plunger. If you feel this is unfair, bring your own plunger or bucket (and take it home with you with the contents intact). It is a Unisex facility so be kind to your fellow participant. If two of you are in at the same time, we really don’t want to know about it. Please keep your screams of delight to a minimum.
7.) Video ……………. $20.00 Please note the facility is under 24 hour video surveillance. If you wish copies of your antics, please notify G or R. If not paid, your video will be posted on various boards and UTube so the world can rightfully laugh out loud at you.
8.) Anything Else …… $1,000,000. We may be easy, but we are certainly not cheap (and we are damn good).

I think this about covers all of the associated fees except for seller fees which are 90% of your take. If you don’t pay, Bubba will be on hand to make sure we get what is rightfully ours and he will take what he thinks is his.

The Menu …
Breakfast: For you early arrivers, we will have an assortment of grease and sugar in the form of swelled circles and bars. Additionally, we will provide a colloidal suspension of oils with dark coloring otherwise known as coffee. It will be brewed and served by the most beautiful woman in the universe, so please tip accordingly.

Lunch: Well, we won’t change this very much. You will have your choice of burgers, bratwurst and weenies. Buns are included and so are the condiments that you can spread as you like. We purchase only the finest beef from the UK, bratwurst from India and the weenies, well; we don’t really know or care where they came from. If you have special needs, keep them to yourself ‘cause we don’t give a damn. You’ll get it the way we like it …. This ain’t Burger King and you can’t have it your way.

For those of you that just can’t stand to be away from cheese, we will have some on hand that can be melted into your bovine flesh on request.

Dinner: Hah, we don’t serve dinner. You can scrounge the leftovers if you are particularly famished, but we won’t guarantee the quality or quantity.

Imbidements will include water and soda. Anything else, you bring. If you get out of control, we will take advantage of you so make sure you wear your chastity belt. Hey, it’s any port in a storm ya know.

This event is held regardless of rain, snow, sleet, hail, fog, fire or even if the sun is shining. We have adopted the Post Office Guidelines and carry large weapons.
Don’t piss us off.

For those of you that have questionable vehicles, we will have representatives of the Water Quality Board, South Coast Air Management Board, Department of Environmental Health, Fire Department, EPA and the Presidential Task Force for going Green on hand. California is broke and needs money.

Glenn and I (Ron) hope you will be able to make it. Slits and Professor 914 don’t give a shit if you show up or not so avoid them at all possible times. We have a new personality that you will want to avoid “Mr. Abrasive”. He is well known to attack at any moment and wears many disguises.

I'm usually around Sallisaw, Tahlequah & Wagoner - east of Tulsa, where I fly into - which is in Cherokee Nation & they have a nice Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on I-44/SR-412 near Tulsa Airport with a great golf course around it.

Tishomingo is over in Chickasaw Nation, & they have a nice Casino south of OKC.

I'm in Orlando for a biz conference. Injuns there too - Seminoles, who OWN the whole dang Hard Rock chain now (their big one is in Hollywood FL).

Competition also up here with the Avila Beach Concours d Elegance. I would rather attend the G & R than look at 30 year old pristine Ferraris that arrive in an enclosed trailer and NEVER get driven. Unlike other swaps, this one seems to get better every year. Or maybe I'm just getting older! (Ya think)? See ya all there.

Well Shawn, did you ever consider the Raunchero might just be a one way vehicle?

And Deacon Shea, not only will we provide you a hot dog but it will be a BIGGUN. You don't have to buy anything but you might want to bring your own lubricant. We may have a couple of your favorite biker boys on hand. Are you bringing King George?

Have you washed your Touareg yet?

This years entertainment is the infamous "Handjob Band", an assembly of skin flute & meat whistle players.

Slits I was thinking of bringing my small screen printing press, and printing up some event t-shirts,I'm talking with a few good old boys see if they want to help out.
If we can come up with a one color design (carton style) maybe a guy over a bQ and some old 914 in the background with the G&R text plastered some place,

maybe we can talk about trowing in a t-shirt with the BQ for a small fee shades.gif

I'll be at a cyclo-cross bicycle race in Irvine watching my Son on Saturday. He says it's fun but you sweat a lot and how much fun can THAT be?

Cheers, Elliot

Fat pills are always welcome. If necessary, we will rob the local Winchells store.

I always have two coffee makers at the swap. I may need to clean mine that I bring from the house as I believe in "Cowboy Coffee" as in never clean the pot as it ruins the taste. The glass is almost black from the oils ... yuuuummmmmm. Maybe I should just pick up another one.

If you have something against cheap Juban coffee, then you might want to bring your own.

I don't do Fru-Fru flavored coffee either. You want fruits or nuts in yours; crush your own. Yeeeeeech!

Lucky25,
I need to find out when everyone will be heading out. Ravi is planning on an early arrival and there's a place for breakfast in Rancho that we could meet at. Silver74inscal and I are flexible on the time. The place that I'm thinking about is called Brandon's, they are located in a small shopping center on the south/east corner of Base line and Carnelian(?). Ravi, head East on the 210 exit on Carnelian, head south until you get to Baseline. Brandon's is past the Smart and Final store. Lucky25, I will keep you posted on Sunday's drive.

Lucky25,
I need to find out when everyone will be heading out. Lucky25, I will keep you posted on Sunday's drive.

that sounds good. what time do you want to meet there?

I will be there looking to buy a nice 914.
So if you have one for sale let me know.

I'll be there - looking for the last few bits to get my car on the road.

I am in need of the following items, if anyone might have them:

two license plate light fixtures (for '70 - '74)

A front bumper without tits

Front valance

Passenger side sun visor

Emergency brake cable(long one – passenger side)

The front bumper and valance don’t need to be perfect. I do prefer a painted bumper for my project, and I’m going to try to modify them for a front oil cooler as shown:

Thanks. See you all tomorrow.

I'm bringing:

1. Pair of ramps rated at 6,500 lbs each

2. Under dash AC unit with excellent motors and new vents. Some of the A/C components were removed though

3. A sheet approx 2 x 4 of sound deading lead/foam. Bought at West Marine and have some left over. A superior material

4. Genuine Porsche Tire guage on hose, never used.

5. Dash cover/pad never used

Oh, I almost forgot.

I'm also looking for a front oil cooler with AN16 fittings that will fit the 914. Possibly a Mazda RX-7 cooler. PM me with pictures if you have anything fitting that description with a price so that I can bring some $$$.

Thanks

Hi Jim!
If you don't find any takers on the AC unit I could be interested. I have a nice unit, but would love new vents. Have a great time today.
I had planned on bringing front and rear bumper tops, a rear chrome bumper, fog lights and a set of 2ltr stainless exhchangers...but got pretty sick on Saturday. hissyfit.gif

A big thanks to Ron and Glen for hosting the best 914 swapmeet west of Hersey. A surprising number of 914s shows and there were the usual hidden gems for sale, plus a great group of old and new friends. I sold the A/C Mark.

Glenn & I thank all that showed up for our party of friends and new acquaintences. We hope that everyone enjoyed themsleves and found what they were looking for.

For those of you that didn't make it, we might try this again in April (as usual). It all depends upon my attitude .... you know ... Mr. Abrasive. biggrin.gif

While it is shitpiles of fun for us, we hope we made it shitpiles of fun for all of you

The Las Vegas Coffee Girl wants to thank everyone for the warm welcome. You enjoys making coffee for all you silly asses (hey, she said that not me).

Ditto. Mucho thank yews to Ron & Glen for another great 914 event; Joe Sharp for his chili (god, i'm farting like a water buffallo Joe. what'd ya put in that?) and to everyone that made the trek.
It's great to look around and see so many people enjoying these cars and sharing their experiences. T H O M A S was nice enough to bring me a thrashed out 1st gear slider which I promptly turned into a Dr Evil wrench when I got home. Thanks a kajillion THOMAS. As usual, Ron was busier than a one armed cranberry merchant. Someone always has a question or needs a part or something from Ron. I'm pretty sure that this particular event was sanctioned by the Porsche Gods. I say this because I did not witness any 914's needing a push start today. shades.gif

smile.gif This was our first time at the swap meet, and I brought every 914 part I had!!! Sandy and I had not seen that many 914's in one spot since our days in the 914 Owner's Assoc. reunions in the mid 90's. WOW!!!! We sold alot of parts and talked and met alot of nice people. And I found alot of 914 treasure for myself!!! Plan on freshing up the 2.0L this winter and fixing that leak on the trans. Looking forward to the next swap meet!!! Thanks to everyone who bought parts and sold me some cool stuff, we had a great time and enjoyed the "flesh roast"!!! My 1970 Baja Bug is not very happy about me spending so much time with the 914, but I plan to bounce around in the desert soon on Thanksgiving. Bye for now! KWJ

I made a quick stop in but it was almost noon, and most of the good stuff was gone. So I scooted over to Terry's and bought more stuff from him!
Thanks Terry!

I was suprised to see so many conversions there! usually, I don't see V-8 and 6 conversions, cuz I hang out at the PCA events too much. (snobs!)

Many thanks to Glenn and Ron for hosting again. I just happened to be in town for a less happy event and made my first swap meet. GREAT FUN!! Drank barrels of coffee personally made by the Las Vegas Coffee girl AKA "the most beautiful girl in the world". It was a pleasure to meet her as well as Ron, Glenn, Kevin and Jim. I also heard some great pilot stories from Elliot, saw some really nice cars and met many more great people whose names I didn't get. I bought Jim's underdash unit and some bits from Kevin, generally made a nuisance of myself and accidentally got caught in a photo ogling the #0012 orange 914-6. Thanks to all. I hope to make this event again sometime.

It was a "RARE" Peich version and priceless. You couldn't afford it unless there was a trade involved. Let's see ... Vanessa + NARM + all your money might make the down payment.

It was not pink, more tan. Didn't ask the price. It was a '67 in near perfect condition. Ron might know the owner, he's been to the G & R before
